how close can u place a m80 to the wall behind them ?
right up against the wall, however, the sound will be comprimised. I would say at least 6" to allow the low bass to filter from the rear ports.
Mine are about 9-12" and sound great.
oh okay thats not too bad i thought it would be more like a foot which would look wierd seeing as the lcd is mounted on the wall , then a speaker comes out drom the wall almost 3 feet , but 6" isnt too bad , thanks .
I think mine are in the 6-8" range, but I have a 137" screen.
137" , i thought my samsung 52" 750 series was big
I have my M80s about 3" out from the wall and have not noticed much difference with them at 3" or if I move them out to 12".
Hi Brandon,
The closer to the wall behind and any side walls, the greater the boost of low bass--even to the point of it becoming "boomy" (in a corner, especially). The farther out from adjacent surfaces, the less emphasis of deep bass. It will vary quite a bit with different rooms.
Regards,
Alan
As another example, mine are < 6" from the wall and work great in my room. I've experimented a bit with moving them in and out and haven't noticed a great difference.
Like Alan said though, your room may be a bit different, but as you can see from the examples here, you'll probably be fine anywhere in this approximate range.
Jason
I should add that mine are corner loaded, so I have always guessed this is why I get very little differentiation between 12" out from the wall or with them 3" away from the wall.
Mine are about 2' from the corners, so semi-loaded as well.
Speaking of semi-loaded, I should make a beer thread post, but I'm in no condition to do so!
That's the Christmas Spirit talking right Peter?
Given his other posts this evening, I'd say so.
