Axiom Home Page
A fun and somewhat weird thread based on my curiosity. I try to listen to them everyday. They probably get around 3 hours of use a day on average ranging from music, videogames, movies and television. On the weekends they tend to work overtime . All in all I try to make any excuse for myself to put them on.

I treat it like a job, so at least 8 hours a day. Ha ha. Maybe not quite that much, but I'd probably be surprised. If I didn't have Audiobytes, the figure would be drastically reduced. My main system still usually gets a couple of hours a day, with more on weekends.
Ever seen those wierd fish that live in caves or at great depths? Sometimes I feel as though I will end up like them. At least 4 hours a day - 8 or so on weekends.
5-6 hours a night, Monday-Friday. Basically from as soon as one of us gets home until 11 or midnight when we go to bed. If it's a lazy, stay-at-home winter weekend, our system is likely to be on for 6 to 10 hours each day. Much less as the weather warms up and we do more outdoor stuff.

If we're not watching TV or a movie, we're listening to music. Thought that time is not just sitting in front of the TV. Even if we're elsewhere in the house, it's likely that the system will be on anyway providing background music.

But if you want to talk about critical listening - those times when we're really just sitting and listening to music - I'd say 3-4 hours per week.
I would guestimate about 4 hrs per day, about half for TV and the other half split between music and movies.
I would love to listen to my Axioms every day, but it is a little difficult with work, family, kids, and home ownership. I would say we watch about 4-5 movies a week, most of them on weekends. My kids love the theater, so we watch a lot of family type movies, however, I get my share of the movies I like and throwing back a few barley pops. \:\)

For music, I'm usually cranking up the tunes when chatting on the Axiom forums, on my big screen. I guess they call that multi tasking. Since the family is often home, I don't get to crank things up as loud as I would like, but when they are gone, I let things rip...I probably average about an hour a day with music listening.
I listen to them all day when I'm up, music constantly playing throughout the house. I don't work, and prior to three weeks ago I was only up maybe one day every couple of weeks for at least a year if I was lucky. Now things are looking up (touch wood) and I've been up every day for the past three weeks, hence my somewhat disappearance from the forum. So they're playing from 10AM-5PM, and, well, it is a beautiful thing!!
Almost every day at some point or another in our household.

That's good news, Cam!! \:\)

Keep it up!
Forgive me for I have sinned. It has been 14 days since my last movie...

I use mine every day as they are the main speakers in the apartment and I listen to the radio a lot.

I was watching 1-2 movies a week for a while, but I am all caught up on the good movies with lfe.

Critical listening varies from nothing to 3 hours a day depending on my mood.
At least a few times a week for me. My wife gets to enjoy them more often since she's home with the kids while I'm at work.

No where as much as I would like. Seeing they are in the living room I can't always just fire them up.
Thanks buddy, can't wait to post some pictures of my organic vegetable garden!! Forty of my seedlings are up, and I'm just waiting for the other 20 pepper plants!! It's my summertime hobby, as I sell my seedlings and vegetables.

Um, hijack alert-any other gardeners out there?
Doc, after I get home classical music is playing on the M22s, either for "serious" listening or background. So, I'd say that amounts to 7-8 hours every day.

John, do you ever just have to take a break from classical, or is your love constant?
Virtually every day here, although much of it is for TV watching. At work, I get in at least an hour a day on the Audiobytes, and tomorrow it'll probably be closer to 8. ;\)
Charles, I only mention classical because it represents the overwhelming majority of my listening. Included in "classical" are movie soundtracks which can be considered to fall within the classical genre, e.g., Bernard Herrmann's superb music for Fahrenheit 451 and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

I also enjoy some of the Broadway and Hollywood musicals(e.g., Brigadoon, Showboat). I also listen to music of the Eastern Rites of the Church, partly because I sing in our small(four women, two men)church choir.

What Rick said.

I often am at the computer, and use my Phillips computer speakers.

This weekend however, I had an old friend over and played a couple cd tracks for nostalgia......before I even thought of explaining about Axiom, and the M60s....the first song just started and he said: "That's good sound quality!"

I say: "woo hoo M60s!"
I use them everyday as they are part of my usual TV/HT setup, but they only get to loud levels with music/movies about 6 days a month. I get to listen at lower volumes almost every night when I get home from work for 30-60 min before heading off to bed at ~3:30 AM.
Since I boxed them up to move it’s something like 0 hours a day/week/month…

Before that…

I usually had them on every waking hour I was here and sometimes when I wasn’t here to fool people into thinking I was.

Dedicated listening (as opposed to background) was about 4-5 hours on workdays and 15-18 on days off.

All made possible because mine were in my “living room,” “dining room,” “bed room,” “home theater/music room” and adjacent to an open kitchen.
Ummm....I don't - at least not yet. Having said that, I am ordering some of the finish samples today (for the WAF) while trying to stay out of anticipation mode.
A few hours a day for TV watching, another 10 hours a week here and there as background since they're in the room across the hall from my office.

The last time I sat and listened to an entire CD all the way through, uninterupted, with the lights down.... really listening to it? Probably ten years.

I think I have adult AD/HD!
5-7 hours per day average.
Serious listening or casual. On the casual side, I can't stand a silent house. Sometimes I think I have a bit of ADD as I'm so easily bored. My hands and brain are not comfortable idle.

Radio comes on as soon as we get up via living room M60s.

Random tunage (my flac library or Internet radio) via living room M60s plays as soon as we get home and continues until we retire downstairs to the TV and/or PC or we head up to bed.

Not counting the movie rentals, I watch about 4-6 hours of TV per week but it's via the downstairs HT setup. You kind of forget about how much it improves even regular TV until you visit somebody and listen to just TV speakers or something thrown together.

I also PVR every concert I see in the TV listings, even stuff I don't recognize. I may skip a bunch of songs then decide to delete it, but at least I have tried something new.

I usually have music playing while I read too. Might be speakers or headphones, depending on what else is happening in the house.

Serious listening happens a couple of times a week. Any time I get new music or I am just in the mood. I'd add movie rentals as serious listening as well. Even Sharon's basic drama's are being produced with some pretty serious soundtracks these days.

Serious listening, an hour per day. Sometimes two. Depends on if my son is having a good day or not.
