Hi all..
Ok so my wife finally talked me into getting digital cable. so i decided to hook up the analog outs from the cable box to some inputs on my processor to take advantage of the music channels and so far it doesn't sound to bad. Although i haven't cranked it up yet. I was just curious is anyone knows the bitrate of the music?
I am guessing that it is compressed ???

That's a good question, I don't know. But when I play it via my HD Tivo on optical, it sounds quite good. I think they come from Music Choice, where it used to be XM (my preference.)
If they are HD channels, then audio is Dolby Digital at either 192 for stereo or 384 for 5.1. It is usually lower than on a DVD.
What is your receiver telling you about the encoding?
