Reading through the forums here it seems there's a lot of love for the M3 but not so much for the M50. I'm confused by that as I thought they were essentially the same speaker.
There are those that still have and love their M50's, but IMO, the benefit and love for the M3 is due to the illusion of more bass from a small bookshelf speaker. This is now a moot point when moving up to the floorstanders.
and the M3s are half the price of the M50s which helps the love.
I haven't heard M50v3s (I have v1s), but I have to say my M80v2s are much better. So were the M3v2s that we tested against them. Jason will remind everyone that part of the reason for this was that for half of the test, the M50s were out of phase...
That's because Ken forgot that the Double Blind Listening Test is after you hook the speakers up.
Anyone done a Double Blonde listening test? standing between two blondes having a conversation about integrated amplifiers?
That's exactly what I'd be talking about in that situation.
Oh yeah, integrated amplifiers.
Ladies, where are you going?
You say "McIntosh"....she says "Red Delicious".
I say "Bose". . . .and I'm wearing her drink.
Unless she is an audiophile, I think you would be in.
"Oooh, those little cubes are soooo CUTE! OMG how do they make such big SOUND?!"
- bBOSEgrrl
"Your little cubes really are cute, but you need to keep them adequately separated from my bass module for the purest experience."
- bBOSEgrrl
Standing between two blondes talking about amplifiers would be like standing in a vacuum(tube).
"Can I test my bass module between your tweeters, bBOSEgrrl?"
Cam
Next comparison test: EP800 vs pmbuko's bass module.
I hope I'm double blinded for that!
I purchased M50's about 6 months ago. Here at home the consensus is that it is the best family purchase in years. They are hooked up to a Yamaha RXV765, 47"Vizio LCD, xbox 360, and as of two weeks ago a Samsung BD C6500 Bluray player. We are always pleasantly surprized at how much we now enjoy music in the house. TV dialog is so much clearer, especially at low volume levels. Due to the room layout/acoustics I don't believe I would experience significant improvement with a center channel. If you want to simply enjoy listening to your music I can highly recommend the M50's. If your looking to set up a dedicated HT I would add in this order, sub(s), surrounds, and then center.
Good Luck!
Glad to hear from a happy M50s owner, we don't hear from those often enough. I'm glad you and your family enjoy the speakers.
Well I am certainly thrilled to hear from a happy M50 owner too! I feel like the red-headed step child here with my M50's. Thank you to Jakewash for your answer to my question. So how many other M50 lovers are there on this forum?
I have no idea, this could be a good poll question.
A good poll would also be a list of all axiom speakers to see which ones are the most popular.
Bruno, that was what I was thinking of and have started to make up, should I continue?
I think it would be cool to know what people own and if it would be a sticky thread, it would always be up to date.

Also their home addresses and vacation schedules.
A thorough list of audio equip't, jewellery, tools ect would be appreciated as well.
So how many other M50 lovers are there on this forum?
I do! I do! And it's been a love affair since day one.
Shhhh . . . don't tell my wife that!
I'm sure she already knows.
