Going to upgrade already into a power amp to run the m80s and soon a vp180.

Looking at the Emotiva xpa 3.

Whats your guys take on this amp or any suggestions?

I think some people on the forum use the XPA3 successfully. For $100 more, the Outlaw monoblocks that are on sale right now might be a better option (see this thread: http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=348460#Post348460 )

Thanks for the information... At a local store I have found a powersoft q5001 amplifier 4channel rms at 350 at 4 ohm or only running 2 channels rms at 700 at 4ohm. Just over $1000 dollars for the amp. Any opinions? Its local no shipping and what not

Did you notice the multiple sale prices of the 2200's Bruno?

Once you get past two for $598 ($299 ea) they work out to be $270 each except for a purchase of six 2200s that work out to be $275 each and then a purchase of seven 2200s brings the price back down to $270 once again. I wonder why they would charge an additional $5 per M2200 for a purchase of six.

That's a good price, I've been looking for the 2200s to go on sale for quite a long while.

The extra $5 for 6 or more is probably to pay the guy who has to lift all these things into boxes.

Murph the price goes back down to $270 for a purchase of seven so it's not an extra $5 for six or *more* ... only for a multiple purchase of six!

Right now I'm in negotiations with the finance department and with a slight disadvantage since she's also the CEO. eek

Yes Rick, I did. The emo is currently listed for $699, 3 x 2200 is $810, ie the $100 difference.
I agree, this is a very good price, although I don't have the $$$ neither a proper dedicated room for me to justify this purchase (at least for now smile )

I've been waiting for those monoblocks to go on sale, but at the moment, I have zero discretionary funds at the moment. Don't my customers know that I can't pay MY bills till they pay theirs? mad

Nitsud, i don't know how you feel about buying pre-owned gear. But i have 2 Krell amps powering my M60's and vp180. the amps i have are rated for 250W@8ohm, and 500W@4ohm, on ALL channels.

i have a Krell KAV/250a3 and a KAV/250a2

here is a link to a review of these amps.
http://www.hometheater.com/poweramplifiers/9/

these amps were manufactured around 1997, they are getting older, however they are built like a tank.. If you look on audiogon, you can usually find these amps that have been recently sent to Krell for service, my 2 channel was sent for a service about 2 months before i bought it, the gentleman still had the receipt that showed how many transistors had been replaced during the service.

i paid about 1,500$ each for my amps. however i bought mine in 2008 at the depts of the recession, the prices have been coming back up a little bit.. These amps are a good value now... while they are not new, they also are a no compromise product.

Good luck with your decision.
