Hi guys!,

I just picked up a pair of M22s in black and received the (I guess) standard email inviting me to hop on the forums and meet everyone smile

First, a bit of my audio history. In college/grad school, I put together a headphone setup with Sennheiser HD650s, custom cabling, tube amp and an EMU card in my computer as the source/DAC. Since then, real life has intervened and I moved a couple times, changed jobs a few times, and got married. Now I live in PA, commute to NYC twice a week, and actually have some space so figured it was time to try the speaker route.

I'll be pairing the M22s with a Denon AVR-2112CI and computer/PS3/cable as source material. Picked up some 12AWG speaker cable, a couple banana plugs, and some cheap stands. I guess my question is: is there a guide somewhere on putting together a speaker setup starting from something as simple as how to attach the banana plugs to the wire? I'm a complete novice smile Also, any suggestions on how to make sure my cat doesn't bit the crap out of the wiring?

Thanks and excited to join the Axiom family!,
Richard
I have a little experience with the cat and the wiring. Ahem. I didn't have any problem at all, UNTIL, I left a thin microphone cable dangling in front of the AVR. That dangling wire looked so tempting.... Now it's in 2 pieces with bite marks through the rest of the length of it. I need to spend $65 to get a new one.
Welcome aboard morp. Be prepared to order more speakers smile upgraditis sets in pretty fast round these parts. You wil enjoy the M22's i assure you. As for the banana plugs ,they vary in design. Some have little set screws to attach the wiring and some have to be soldered. Post a link to which one's you currently have. I buy the nakamichi ones off ebay. Read onsite all the tech articles available.Come back with specific questions. The Denon amp is a nice unit, you will get to love it after you get familiar with it and work through the crappy manual they provide. I used Batpigs denon page to help me along the way.
For banana plug, I use 2 varieties. Axiom Audio sells a set that has 2 in one unit that plugs in great for both wires at once. It has a nut that you tighten onto the wire by hand and a little supplied wrench. You can also plug another banana plug into these if you need to run more than one speaker off of the same channel. (Note: The Dual banana plugs made by Axiom will fit their speakers, but might not fit on the back of the receiver. Would have to buy one and try it out. If it doesn't fit, then just use the single banana plugs instead. Or measure center to center on back of speaker, then see if this is the same measurement on the back of receiver.)

Axiom brand. Called Dual Spring. Watch the video on this page.

Monster brand.

Also for single plugs, I like the little monster banana plugs. They are not overly priced in my opinion and I like the small size.
Thanks for the input guys!

Cat: I have stories like that as well frown my cat has already killed my old gaming mouse, 2 mics and a headset by chewing through the cables.

Socket: I've heard stories about how bad the Denon manual is. Thanks for the rec of the Batpigs page.. I'll google it and check it out for sure during installation.

If it helps, I purchased GLS Black Chrome plugs from Amazon.

I forgot there are tech articles on this site. I have a lot of reading to do smile

i check out those banana plug, they look good. Description says single set screw design. It would seem the body of the plug seperate and there will be a small set screw to hold the wire . I like to tin my wires with solder beforehand so the set screw doesnt spread the wire.

Here is a video at the bottom of the page on amazon's site

Oh great thanks!
Richard, welcome. I'm sure that you'll enjoy great sounds through your M22s, as I have now for almost 10 years and possibly 25,000 hours. Fine choice in getting the 2112, and to enjoy the surround sound capabilities inherent in 2-channel source material I'd suggest that you next add side surrounds, preferably QSs.
They're out for delivery right now smile

It's a good sign that the product is exceptional when all the forum members are telling me to buy more of it!
I just love waiting for a package to arrive. The buildup is the best part. Be sure to get set up and play some music for a bit before critically listening. My M80's seem to get better and better. Hell they make my kids music sound good. Now thats a compliment for axiom if there ever was one.
Hmmm. I get the feeling a lot of my music listening choices is probably your kid's music.
Congrats on the purchase! I still use my M22s that I bought 9 years ago. They still sound fantastic! Good to have you around.
I tried a pair of Sennheiser 650's the other day. Sounded really good.
