Amplifier options?

Amplifier options? - 09/23/12 09:17 PM

I currently own an Axiom pair of M60ís tower speakers, Axiom QS4 surround speakers and Axiom VP 150 center channel. I am considering ordering a Marantz MM7055 5-Channel Power Amplifier and Marantzís AV7005 preamp/Processor ($2,700 for the combo). Is this a good choice for my Axiom home theater speakers? Is it good for audio listening? Is the Marantz MM7055 5-Channel Power Amplifier powerful enough to move the M60ís?
I also have the choice of buying a used Creston CNAMPX-7X200 amplifier ($1,500). Is this a better choice than the Marantz combo?
My budget is around $2,700 for amp and preamp in case of better suggestions. Please advice, thanks

See responses to your other post with the same question. We are lazy here. Well... except JP but he has access to meds.

The m60's are very efficient and don't require a lot of power to play very loud. How big is your room. Seems like a lot of money to spend and if your room is not that big, might be overkill.

I would go (or at least try with their 30 days in-home trial) for Emotiva UPA-700 and an UMC-1 Pre-Pro al for about 1200-1300 shipped to Canada. Free shipping if you're in the US.
Add 2 more speakers and you'll have an awesome 7.1 system.
