Good day- I am going to buy an Axiom but need help in deciding which model to get. My room is fairly small-
20x15 and I have a Paradigm sub and Rotel 70 watt/channel amp. I listen mainly to "real jazz" ( Miles, Thelonious,Coltrane etc.) and contemporary classical music. ) What is the difference between the M50 and M60 for jazz? Is there a difference in the soundstage
or brightness? I sit about 12 feet away ( only a stereo, no home theater ). I welcome your advice- thanks in advance.

Hi Snowmanvt,

The M50 is pleasant but doesn't have quite as much midrange and upper octave detail and clarity; as such it's unlikely to have quite as impressive a soundstage as the M60ti because the soundstage articulation is dependent on midrange linearity and accuracy.

However, when I did A/B comparisons of the two, I was focusing more on clarity and detail rather than soundstage per se, so perhaps an M50 owner might comment.

I listen to quite a lot of jazz and I love the detail and soundstage of the M22ti's, which is extremely close to that of the M60ti.

Regards,

I have the M3s here at home (many compare their sound to the M50s) and the M60s, too. I'm betting you'd like the M60s better than the M50s for the music you're listening to. The soundstaging of the M60s is just amazing with those quiet, older recordings (but not so good with crappy, scratchy old recordings).
