I seem to recall someone posting here about some kind of H/K direct store where the company sells its own refurbished products. Can someone supply the link, or did I fantasize this? Tried a search on the forums but couldn't turn it up.

Birdman
You can try crawling around in the HK site, but they also list several etailers here . One call and pcmall are likely refurb/B-stock candidates. Denon does a similar thing - using a net of etailers to move the units. If they are using this net, it's likely that HK won't have much of anything on their own site.
It's harmanaudio.com. I bought my AVR520 there two years ago. Mine was sold through the outlet because the faceplate was scratched up (I was able to speak to someone at the time, but they no longer list a phone number). A little bit of CD scratch remover, and everything was fine. And as far as I can tell, I do not have the infamous DTS LFE problem.

Be careful when you buy H-K refurbished online. Make sure you use one of the licensed suppliers listed on the H-K site. I learned from experience. I ordered a AV-125 from e-cost.com. It was defective from the start and ecost doesn't allow any returns or exchanges. They also weren't a licensed dealer which put the warranty in jeopardy. It was a major headache, but ultimately is getting dealt with as ecost is a subsidiary of pcMall. Avoid ecost-their service staff was impossible to deal with.
Got my AVR8000 from ubid.com when they were "clearing the shelves" in prep for the 7200. Got a good deal, but like jorge016 said, make sure it's from a licensed outlet. Mine was perfect, but have heard some bad stories.
Check out e-bay
Like Frzoll said, check out ebay. harmanaudio is their seller name, and they've been clearing out their AVR 525/7200 models. I picked my avr 525 up for $515 after shipping. That, and they carry the full 2 year warranty, as far as I can tell
Everything on harmanaudio.com has FULL warranty coverage.
Harman Kardon sells their stuff on ebay through harman audio. Just do a search for almost any HK model and you should be able to find stuff from Harman. I believe they are based in Arizona (refurb facility)
