I just hooked up Harmon Kardon 3480 (110/120 wpc - stereo only) to my new M60 and there was silence! Did I do anything wrong? Has anyone used the 3480 with the M60 successfully? Thanks.
Somehow I doubt that there is a core incompatibility between the two...
Did you check that the thing was not muted, there was nothing in the headphone jack, the right speaker channel was turned on?
Kay, as Ken implies, just about any receiver can be used "successfully" with any speakers. I assume that the display on the 3480 lit up when you pressed the power button. Check the speaker wires for a loose strand that may be touching something and bringing protective circuitry into play. Check in back that the jumper pins between the pre-outs and main-in are in place. Make sure that the muting button isn't pressed in, that the speaker 1 button is pressed in if you're connected to those terminals and that you have the right function button pressed in for what you're trying(e.g. FM tuner).
Again, I'd suggest that perhaps the speaker channel is not correct. Since the 3480 has two speaker outs (1 and 2), there should be a button to choose between the two.
I have a 3480 and its hooked up to m80s with no problems
JohnK and all,
The 3480 was defective.I now have a Denon 3805.
Thanks for your help.
Aha! Or, I suppose, that would have been the explaination... Why didn't we think of that?
