are these a best buy in the $800 range, I'm looking to jump in to higher end speakers with a more audiophile sound. I've got a denon 3803 and am considering the hsu vtf-mk2 and the 150 axiom center?

YES.

if you get the outlet speaker, it will only be $720 for the pair. i think for that price, you will be hard pressed to find a comparible product that has the same clarity and fullness as the M60's. these are often compared to the paradigm reference series that are considerably more in price.

but the simple truth comes down to what sort of sound is good to your ears. each speaker has its own curve, and you have to decide what does, or doesnt, sound good to you. i truly believe the M60's are a great starting point. if you dont like them, you can always send them back within the 30 day trial period. but i guarantee, once you get them in your living room, and hooked up to that 3803, you will find it REAL hard to send them back.

watch the first chapter of LOTR/Fellowship, and you will be a beliver.

Thirsty - BIG response for happy listening with my 3803, M60, VP100, QS8 set up. Do the VP150 if you want, but the 100 is special. Any way you go here, there is no mistake.

You know, it's hard to say, "Buy these speakers, you'll love them." Speaker preference is very subjective, it seems. I haven't heard anything I'd rather have that didn't cost more, and I've heard many that cost more that I didn't like as much.
For HT it's a slam dunk - the package is great.
