Ok, I know which speakers I'm going for. The QS8's and the VP350 center to go along with my m60's. I could probably go for the QS4's and the VP100 in a room that is 12' by 22' but I don't plan on buying any more speakers for a while.

The question is this, Currently I only want to buy one or the other due to money constraints until next month or so. Which should I get first? Will it make any difference until I have the full set?

if you alreay have the M60's, i would say get the surrounds next.

in a way, the FULL surround effect wont happen until you get the full 5.1 set-up. but, getting the surrounds, will at least give you an idea of what its gonna sound like..

the sub is also very important, more for movies than music.. that should be after the surrounds.. unless you watch a lot of movies, then maybe that should be first.. this is all sooooo confusing.

get the surrounds!!

BH, welcome. Definitely go with the QSs first so that you'll be able to have surround sound. Your M60s can reproduce the center channel material in "phantom" mode without a center speaker, at least temporarily. The disadvantage is that center channel material such as most movie dialog will shift from the center of the screen if the listener is to the right or left(spatially, that is).

Chalk up another vote for getting those awesome QS surrounds next and using the M60 to phantom the center.
