Hi all,

I'm about to buy a pair of Mt22i bookshelves and now I'm looking for a good receiver. My price range is something around $500. After a quick search, I have found the HK AVR 340 (I like the iPod bridge), the AVR635, the ONKYO TX-NR801 and the YAMAHA RX-V2500.

I am really looking for a versatile receiver: music as well as movie, in a small room and larger ones. I really like the AVR 340 because of the integrated IPod bridge but I wonder if it has enough watts for the Mt22i.

Any advice?
Thanks
Lionel

If the AVR-340 has the features you want, grab it and don't look back. It has plenty of power to push your M22ti's - no worries there.

Lionel, welcome. There's no need to be concerned about whether a receiver is "versatile". They just amplify sound transparently and don't care whether it's in a movie, music, or music in a movie. Unless the "larger" room you mentioned is really huge(in which case it would be too big for the M22s to do their best), the 340 should have more than enough power. As Craig mentioned, if you like the features, go with it

I have the Yamaha RX-V557 receiver. It's an excellent value. The next step up, the RX-V657, only has 5 more watts on each channel, but has automatic setup and 7.1, both of which I am uninterested in.

I have the RX-V2500 and I'm very happy with it. Good manual and noob friendly interface with a lot of features.

I don't think you can find a receiver that won't drive the M22s. Having owned Yamaha and Denon, I would agree that Yamaha is more user friendly.
