Well, ordered the m-60's, F.O., don't know how I'll handle the grandkids with them yet, but now see a price increase coming. I must be doing something right! (3 weeks and counting) Guy

That is great Guy, you will love your 60's I'm sure, just as much as I do... I have 7 yr old and 1.5 yr old sons and they have yet to knock one over... They are pretty stable. My main concern would be that they don't poke the woofers or tweeters.

I'm more worried about my M22 on stands then I would be about M60's when that time comes someday.

That's true, they like poking things. Yet another thing I didn't think of. Thanks, will keep an eye out for it. Guy

I know I've said it before; but it bears repeating:!!

Keep either an armed guard or a large watchdog chained to the volume control when little ones are around!

Vitally important!!

Rich, I'm guessing you've had to change your shorts one too many times after the little ones punched up that volume on you huh?

Now I've only been around for a couple of weeks, but this is (at least) the third time I've read this warning. There HAS to be a story. Spill.

Actually, I was in the bathroom at the time the "incident" happened, or perhaps a change of clothing MAY have been appropriate!

Ok, what happened then, was; in the earlier days of my new 5.1 adventures, I had an ancient 1946 16mm movie projector remote speaker with an original 10" paper cone driver. I was running it off an old Akai amp that only had one channel operating that my oldest daughter had left in our attic.

It worked...

The receiver was in a cabinet about 8" off the floor.

Our youngest grand daughter, about two years old at the time, saw me controlling the volume with the master volume control and thought; when I was out of the room, to try it herself!

From the other end of the house it sounded as though a small pick-up truck had attempted to enter our livingroom at speed!!

Her older brother was into action within about two seconds and chopped the loud control; but not before a piece of paper 2" by 1/2" was deposited in the bottom of the antique 3/8" plywood cabinet.

It was sad; it buzzed,.... a lot, after that.

Two obvious things happened soon after:

I got a new 10" higher performance driver to replace the old paper full-range transducer, and:

The receiver found a new home, up much higher, out of reach of little paws!!

Another advantage of having the electronics up farther from the floor? No more cerial and milk splattered on the receiver, and no more sticky fingerprints to have to scrub off, either!!

Ah yes; little ones can be fun!
Rich.

With my old Rxer, I didn't have a remote so changing volume required alot of effort. As soon as I set up the new one, my daughter was all over the remote. If it's fun for daddy to play with...

The problem was easily solved by removing the batteries from the TV remote and letting her play with that. She'll sit next to me 20-30 minutes at a stretch pressing buttons and smiling
