I'm still on my hunt for bookshelfs to replace my current side surrounds. I'm looking for direct speakers that sound great with multichannel music as well as movies.

I'm running some Aperion 532's now, they sound ok for music and movies but just don't have the umph for a large room.

I guess what I'm looking for is a speaker that can fill a room like the QS8's but keep the sound direct for music.
There is nowhere in my area where I can do any listening comparisons, so I'll rely on your guys knowledge and experience.

Obviously I'd like the best bang for the buck, but I also want some great speakers whether they are Axiom, Revel, Onix. or any of the many brands out there.

Any advice is much appreciated. I'll try and post some pictures of my setup in the next few days. Thanks

I've got a pair of Ascend CBM-170's. They sound fantastic, but are kinda ugly...like a studio monitor! Take a look here at the reviews.

The Ascend 170 kind of reminds me of the M3. I'll be able to tell you about mine in two weeks.

If you are specifically interested in direct-radiators for music, I should think that you would also be very concerned about matching the timbre of the mains as closely as possible.

You might be surprised how much you would enjoy the QS8's. At any rate, I can't imagine being able to do better for the money and sonic compatability than the Axiom bookshelves if you are set on monopoles.

Based on what you've said, I would take a chance on some M22's.

A very pretty one at that.

The M22's are high on my list, just wanted to see what others are using and how they sound, as far as the sonics go I'm not sure my ears would be able to tell the difference, as I'm using a mismatch now.

Don't get excited. That's not Mary, it's Jack! He's in estrogen therapy.

Estrogen miraculous transformation, more like.

I have M3s and M22s as mains in two different setups. I really love them both. I think either of them would server you well.

I'm using m60's as my mains with m3's as surrounds and I love it.I probably listen to music 90-95% of the time.
