I recently upgraded my receiver to an Onkyo and was wondering what is the Hz I should set up my M60's in the Onkyo's Speaker configuration set up menu?? I currently have them all at 80Hz (thx) on all of them (vp150, M60, EP500 and Q4's) but was wondering if it would make a difference if I set my fronts to a different Hz? I tried "full band" on the Onkyo, and the M60's are really moving when I play at high volumes...I'm afraid I am going to blow one of the woofers. Any suggestions on what the best set up for the M60's are??

I think it really comes down to personal preference. I have the M80s and have taken turns running them full, and then at 40/60/80. In most cases, I prefer 80 Hz (sometimes 60), so I think you've probably got yours set where a lot of people do.

However, I'd just experiment and see what you like best. Probably not the definitive answer you were looking for, but the best I can do!

I would say there is no definitive answer, you could do some measurements to find out what the best/flatest setting would be be for your room, but it still comes down to personal preference.

I, like Jason, run my M80s at various settings just for the fun of it, sometimes it sounds great other times not so much. Although I wouldn't take the M60s down to the 40hz level as you have a sub there is no need; also I believe their specs are only slightly below 60hz. I wouldn't hesitate to try them at that 60hz point and see if you like that setting better. If you don't feel there is much difference, then keep them at 80 and take a little pressure of the Onkyo.

I run all my speakers on "small" with 80hz crossover, following THX standards.

This may have changed with newer receivers but there used to be a problem with setting the Xover to less than 80Hz. It had to do with the mix being designed (THX) to have an 80Hz Xover and setting the reciever Xover at say 60Hz would cause all the LFE info between 60Hz and 80Hz to get lost. I would think that newer receivers with individual Xover settings for each channel would have overcome this problem but I'd still check.
