I bought a used EP125 yesterday, about 8 years old. I made a huge mistake of not checking if it worked before I bought it. I paid $100 for it. Cosmetically it is just like new. However it keeps blowing fuses.

So I called Axiom. They told me that this is an older model and the newer amplifier won’t fit, I am assuming he means physically. This is the real kicker. They said they don’t have any of the older amplifiers in stock. So Axiom tells me I am out of luck.

Now, I am one not to give up easily. I want to know is, is the new amplifier in the EP125 V2 larger than the old one. If yes, then some handy and careful work with a jig saw and I am in business. Also assuming that there is no issue with hooking the new amplifier to the old driver.

Can anybody tell me what the dimensions are on the amplifier on the EP125 V2?

These might be some good questions to ask axiom. They would know the specifics.

1) What changes have been made between your version and the current V2?

2) Are the newer amps larger or smaller than your version?

3) If there has been driver changes up to the current V2 designation can the new amps that are spec'd for the current driver in the EP125 capable of being used with your version of the EP125?

What about sealing the amp plate area on the back of the box and using an external amp?

I thought of that Mark. But wouldn't I need a crossover?

If you're running it from the subwoofer output of a receiver, all you need is a volume control on the amp. The receiver does all the bass management work.

But if you were using the the speaker level inputs and then having the signal continue on to your mains, then yeah, you'll need some sort of crossover.

If the sub used an amp with no modifications yes. If there are any boosted frequencies or a rumble/highpass filter, then you would probalby be out of luck. Axiom could tell you though.
