Hi there, I was doing a sub crawl earlier today to try and maximize my subs performance. I did place my EP500 in my usual sitting spot and started to do the crawl. The place where I found very smooth bass was right beside my EP350 right next to it. My layout goes like this:



The top X is where I placed my EP500, the bottom X is my EP350. Is this not advisable, or do I need to try something else?

Did you try placing the 350 on top of the 500? Sometimes that is easiest.

One other thing to try, place the 500 were the 350 is now, and the 350 in your listening position. Now with both subs operating see if you can find another place where the bass is smooth, put the 350 there.

Is it alright to place the 350 on top of the 500? I didn't know if it would hurt the sub if it's vibrating when pumping out the bass? I'll try that. Is the bracing in the 500 sturdy enough to hold that?

You can place subs close to each other. This will not help even out the frequencies in multiple seating locations, like having them across the room from each other, which would be a better goal.

Derek, the sub crawl is helpful when placing a single sub or two subs co-located(either horizontally or vertically), but as Randy mentioned, it may be even more useful to place two subs separated according to room mode null/cancellation rules. Basically, this involves the midpoints of either the side walls or the front and back walls, or diagonally opposite corners.

After doing the crawl, my EP500 was in a huge null at the front of my room, located in between my M60 and VP150.
