I ordered the qs8 v3 and got them in a few weeks ago. THe label on the back says qs8v3 but the ohm says 8 which is the rating for the qs4. Also I measured the woofer on these and I'm not sure where to measure. From the inter diameter of the speaker housing where the foam meets the metal ring I measured 4.25" T#he specs for the qs8 is 5.25" Do I need to measure from the futher most edge of the housing? Or is the woofer measured by the outer edge of the aluminum cone? Im not sure. I see there is a 5 lb difference in the 2 versions maybe I can weigh them to see. I just want to make sure I received the right speakers. Thanks. Oh I called the support line about the ohm difference and they mention it must have been a mix up with the label printer. I am about to pull the trigger on the m80's and I am just anxious to get them installed
Measure the height of the speaker cabinet? (Not sure if you should measure with or without the grills though).

QS4 = 6 1/4 inches

QS8 = 8 1/4 inches
Are the side grills large rectangles, with the tweeters being complete circles rather than rounded rectangles? I'm pretty sure you got QS8s. Axiom measures its drivers (as do most other companies) on the outer diameter, not the inner cone diameter.
I will have to check the side tweets Im at work right now.
I measured the outside of the foam /inner circle of the metal case and was 4.25" . I will also measure the height of them as well. Thanks for the info
Axiom appears to be having some quality control issues with their labels, as there have been some other complaints of 8ohm printed on the other 6 ohm speaker, the VP150.
The cabinet for the QS8's are larger than the QS4's....check under the specs listed in the online store of each, to double check your own.
During lunch I checked the tweets and they are round, so according to the pics under the qs8 photos they also have round tweets so relief smile mounting these babies tonight. Cannot wait to order the m80's and vp180. Again thax for the info and help
I would still call Axiom and report this issue, they would want to know and address it with the mfg line.
..hmmm. when I got my speakers I never even bother checking them..maybe I should now..
Ken, yes, the 5.25" measurement is taken from the widest part of the driver frame. The actual cone size is much smaller, but you do have the 5.25" drivers and QS8s. By the way, the surrounds are rubber, not foam.
johnk thanks for the clarification. They used to be foam in the old school days smile I didn't feel like typing Polypropylene smile
Sirquack as stated in the original post I did call axiom and they are the ones that mentioned a possible printing issue
Damagic I never thought of checking mine either my bro-in-law was checking them out and I told him they were 6ohm and he said the label says 8ohm smile so got me wondering.

Hi Ken_s,

Thanks for bringing up this issue; I will notify our production and QC people. It is definitely a label misprint.
Doesn't Chris have a VP150 with an 8ohm sticker on it?
They ought to be worth more, like a miss-minted penny.
I received my speakers including QS8s from Axiom last week and my QS8s are labeled as 8 Ohms as well. When I talked to Axiom about this, they stated that the label is correct and the website needs to be updated. The printed manual that came with the QS8s states 8 Ohms as well.

Hi,

The Impedance of the Axiom VP150v3 and QS8v3 speakers have been revised. You can see the Impedance graph of both speaker models on their respective Axiom web page under the "Specs" tab.

The VP150v3 nominal Impedance has now been establisehd at 6 Ohms:

The QS8v3 nominal Impedance has now been establisehd at 8 Ohms:

The 150 is still 6 Ohms but the QS8's are now 8 Ohm, interesting.
I wonder what changed?
It would be the crossover network.
I guess this would make them more attractive to potential buyers.
Uneducated ones, yes.

Crossover adjustments can have an effect on loudspeaker impedance among other things.
Could also be a reevaluation of the curves, too.
