My VP-150 and M22Ti's will finally be matched to a pair of QS-8's. I intend to set the crossover at 80hz. The frequency range provided by Axiom has one for +/- 3db and one for what I appears to be +3/-9db. I don't have a clue what either means but one range allows for a low frequency of under 80hz and specifically with the VP-150 the +/-3 only goes down to 85 hz and the QS-8 only go down to 95hz.

For my real world listening, should I just set the crossover to 80db and not worry? I don't know which new sub I'll go with but I am sure the crossover will also be 80hz for that unit.

Yes, Greg; an 80Hz crossover would work well for all, although setting the QS8s at 90Hz might be slightly better, at least in theory.

Setting them at 80 or 90Hz in the receiver automatically crosses the sub over at the same frequency. The low pass filter(not actually a "crossover")on the sub itself should either be bypassed(if available)or turned all the way up to get it out of the way of the crossover that the receiver is doing.

I'm having trouble following. What receiver are you using? Does it set separate crossovers for each speaker type?

My receiver does have separate settings for each speaker for crossover. However if you look at the specs for the QS-8, they list a frequency response for both +/- 3db and +3 db/-9db. One has a frequency range of 95 hz to 20khz and the other 65hz to 20khz. I was wondering if this would mean optimal crossover should be 95 or should it be 65? As suggested, I'll just set the crossover to 80hz and not worry about it. My new receiver will be a Denon AVR-X2000. Part of me wants the Yamaha RX-V675 but the Denon is a little shallower and will fit into the media cabinet a little better. I tend to get all techy when I upgrade and then once I have everything setup, just enjoy listening and not worry to much about it.

I just let Audyssey set the crossovers for me. I think it set my QS8's at 100Hz, but the room is an important factor, too.
