Ipod is the mp3 player.

i use both.
1-IPOD is awsome. Best looking Mp3 out there. Also, largest storage capability out there. Also, its not too big(like some of them). Finally, it looks really cool.

anyways, i tunes is cool. Easy to use, and works really well with apples song downloading feature. in my opinion, you can only get a bad music application. Everything else(which includes the itunes) is basically the same. I use itunes on my mac, and music jukebox for windows(because i got it before i tunes came out for windows, and it was the only way i can connect windows to my ipod.

P.S. If you buy an IPod you get a Volswagen Passat. I saw it on a commercial.

That website smells of a smear campaign. While it may be true that some iPod batteries wear out after 18 months -- mine has no problems afer almost 2 years -- Apple bent to the pressure and now offers a $99 battery replacement service for out-of-warranty iPods. The website you mention conveniently neglects to mention this fact.

You can also buy replacement batteries and do it yourself for half the price, though cracking the case is a pain.

I think I do, Haoleb. Sorry, I am not up on the jargon. What I think I'm asking is: Is there a "best" method for downloading digital music?
I have all the lastest computer music players, ie, music match, Windows media player, Realplayer (yuk) etc.
I was surfing another Message board and it was mentioned by one fella that itunes and ipod was "the best" as he put it and it got me curious. You see, I've tried downloading music and all I get is broken up sound tracks and this leads me to believe there MUST be a better way.

kazaa lite is what i use. There are many others my friends use that have smaller databases of music, but they claim they don't get too many broken songs. Good thing about kazaa lite(kazaa lite has no ads, kazaa does) is that it has large collection of older songs, that are ussually not blocked.

I have heard/read though that Itunes (when used with apples downloading website) has the most songs available in its database. These songs are never blocked since you are paying for them.

Finally, if using kazaa lite, i have noticed that a good way to get a new/pop song is to search for the song using the lyrics. For example if the song is Ms. Jackson by outkast, search using the lyrics, 'I never meant to make you cry'. Frequently people will not know the name of a song, and put their own name to a song. But, when the record company goes in and blocks tracks off their CD's, they dont search using the lyrics, just the song name.

If you are interested in downloading music... many of these services are free to access, and only cost money to purchase. If you are interested in iTunes, I suggest that you go to http://www.apple.com/itunes and download it for free and buy a song or two for a couple of bucks. Then compare with other services and if you like the selection/interface/sound quality.

The iTunes tracks are only 128k bit rate AAC, but they claim that they rip from the master tapes, not from CD. This should produce better quality, but I suggest you let your ears be the judge.
