i was just curious as to how much the m60's woofers can expand and contract (in cm). For me, the most exciting part about listening to music(other then the music itself) is feeling the bass and seeing the woofers move in and out. i have noticed they dont move at all unless the m60 is loud. they seem very stiff, but when they start to move they really crank it out.

Aha! i knew it! lol.

No wonder you thought your speakers were broken. your a bass head!

Well they arent some big ole' DVC high excusion woofers. and you aint gonna seem em move unless you go up close to the side of the speaker, and you aint gonna get gut wrenching bass. These aint Cerwin Vega's man!

I dont think anyone here really knows how much Xmax the woofers are capable of. (or cares) except im sure the folks at Axiom know. But your right they can crank it out alright. I played THX worlds deepest bass for someone who was here visiting and auditioning my M80's.

well he was very impressed to say the least. I had it cranked and now that i look back im surprised the woofers didnt bottom out or something. The handled it like it was nothing. i was literally shaking things in my room. they seem stiff because they arent flopping around like some cheapo speakers. (my KLH sub for example) If you were looking for real bassy, SPL, gut wrenching speakers you made a bad choice but like i said. if you want clean, tight, deep, articulate bass. you made a good choice!

ha!
dont get me wrong. i like the bass on the m60s. i was just surprised when i got them how little the woofers(including the midrange) move. Sure enough they move plenty when you turn them m60s up. And i dont think i will be able to bottom out the bass on the m60s before i beak my ears with insane SPLs.
But, I really like seeing the speaker move. When someone comes over and you turn up the bass you want them to hear it. And then they go over to the speaker and see the woofer shake like crazy and then say wow. That is always fun.

but i guess i am a bass head

You wanna see motion? OK. Here's a solution for you:

Tape a piece of tissue paper over the bottom front vortex port. Now you'll have a great indicator that the M60s are really pushing air.

Correct... Axioms don't roll off at 100Hz on the high end.

Can I get you some more mud with your air movement?
