One of my woofers was dented on my VP150, so I asked for a replacement driver. So, my replacement driver was shipped out promptly. I'm just unfamiliar about what size bit I'm going to need to get the screws out, and once I do, is everything pretty self-explanatory on how to connect the driver? Obviously positive wire, to the positive, and neg to neg. So, is the inside of the Axioms color-coded? Thanks for helping this newb out!

I'm not sure about what bit you'll need (probably a phillips?), but when you get the driver removed, it should pull out enough so that you can see which wire is clipped to which terminal. Pull the clips straight off with some steady force, then slip them back on the same posts of the new driver.

Ahh -- i wasn't sure if there's any soldering involved. As for the phillips -- I don't think that would work. The screws/bolt on the drivers have an inner hexagonal shape (female end), with round outer edges -- rather than standard screws.

I could just try a wrench on the edges of the bolt things -- I'm just afraid I'm going to scratch things up.

They're allen bolts... buy a set of "allen keys" or "allen wrenches" "hex keys" or "hex wrenches" to remove them...

Thanks -- I found the right wrench. The bolts are out, yet the driver feels "stuck" in the cabinet. I was under the impression that it was going to pop out, but no such luck. I can't even get this thing to budge -- and I'm afraid I'm going to scratch the finish up if I try using a tool.

NM, i got it out by placing some pressure on one side for a while. Like i said, i'm a newb. And a paranoid one at that :P.

When it comes to disassembling electronics, it's quite a good instinct to be paranoid. I'm glad everything worked out for you.

when you take drivers out of a cabinet, a couple tips are turn it on its back, so when the screws are undone the driver wont fall out onto the floor when you forget to hold it.

If the drivers are set flush like the axiom ones a good tip is.. if your handy and have a steady hand. get a SMALL screwdriver or a screw or something and try and pry it up through the screw hole. NOT on the edge. In your case id suggest you flip the speaker on its front side (while holding it or just an inch or so above your bed and try to knock it loose. make sure your no more than an inch or two above a soft surface for the driver to fall on or else you will probbly ruin the driver and yank the wires.

Once your inside you will probbly need to get some pliers to pull off the quick clips, be sure not to damage them. most times theres two sizes, and its pretty fool proof to get the polarity right when your only going one driver at a time.

Because your woofer is still OK. just dented save it for later incase you might need it again. so be carefull not to damage it when you take it out.
