I was hoping someone could help me out. I am looking to get some speaker here but don't know what size to get. I have 14x24x10 ft ceiling room. I have a 5.1 receiver for now. I will be using this for both ht and stereo, more ht though. I was think th m60, Q8, and the VP150.. Does this sound about right? Any input would greatly appreciated. Thanks

welcome sick-

the M60's, VP150, and QS8's would work perfect for that room. as long as your receiver is pushing at least 75 watts a channel, you should have plenty of power to handle them. and if you are going to watch a lot of HT, i would definitely get a sub.. the axiom subs are good, SVS and HSU are better. but a sub is a must have with HT..

Yep. What John said.

Browse the forums a while; this sort of question comes up a lot. Also, don't be afraid to call Axiom and discuss your particular situation with them. The Axiom staff are fine folks who will advise you capably and honestly.

You might be adequately served by the QS4 or the VP100 if cost is an issue (or in order to swing a subwoofer). As a very happy M60 owner, and with knowledge of your room size, I would highly recommend that model as your main front speakers.

A lot also depends upon your listening habits and other equipment (both current and future). Likewise, highly accurate speakers like Axioms will reveal that the quality of popular recordings varies wildly.

Axiom makes wonderful products that are a great value.

sick, let me second Tom's remarks. I am in a 16x22x10 room with M60/VP100/QS8 and they work wonderfully. The VP100 is an excellent speaker and presents a $$ savings if that is a concern. The Q4s should work as well; they may need to be turned up a bit higher than the QS8s, but I have only seen positive comments aboout them. I don't think you can make a mistake with the choices.

Sorry for piling on the affirmative, but I have the M60's, VP150, and QS8's in a 16' X 24' with a 16' cathedral ceiling and they sound fabulous. I've had them for about 4 months and I am still amazed!!!

Good luck!

same here, again. i got M60's, VP150, and QS8's in a 28x26x8 room, and they rock the house. i am serious, these speakers can take as much turn as i want to put on the volume knob, and never skip a beat. the sound is able to completely fill my living room.

the only 'soft' spot i have found is against the very back wall(in the corner), opposite from the M60's, i hear what i would describe as a 'hollow echo'. could be room acoustics, could be the listening mode i have the receiver set to?? good thing i dont ever sit in the corner.. now the doghouse is a different story.

If you're not in a rush, you can also save some coin and order your speakers through the Axiom Outlet.

I just realized why your room has to be so big - you clearly need a large corner to be sent to.

I wanted to say thanks for everyones advice. I think I will be going with the M60,VP150, and the Q8's. I will have to wait a little on that sub, but have read nothing but good things about SVS and HSU. I was leaning more towards the SVS sub but was a little hesitant about which one though. Im not looking to go over 700 for it... I think anything higher and my wife would kill me.

Sicknight..
I am running your same proposed set up. My room is really a HT nightmare and the 60 150 qs8's are astounding in there ability to create a wide soundfield. I went with a SVS pb2plus subwoofer. It is an incredible subwoofer. Not to put ideas in your head but my wife thinks it cost $700.00.

Check the size of my room above (and it opens into a 14x20 kitchen). Give the folks at SVS a call - very Axiom-like. I had been thinking about a 25-31 PC+, but after a 1/2 hour discussion, they convinced me I didn't need that much of a sub and sold me DOWN to a 20-39PCi ($599). Now THAT'S Customer Service.

I have the gain set at 40%-45% and I am not running it very hot, but I have to tell you, things rattle. Svs gave me the straight skinny and I have all the sub I need with plenty in reserve. Hope the info is helpful.
