Hi,
Being new to this, I would appreciate if someone could please help me out here.

Do I need to break-in the speaker or is that already done by Axiom during their quality control process?

If yes, what is the proper way of breaking in a speaker?

Thanks!

This has been discussed in great detail.

Good luck finding anything other than beer and frozen dinners in my kitchen...

...Wait a second...that won't end well at all. I'll just be sober and hungry. I'll find you some milk and sugar...

Ooh, my favorite topic !!

Whether or not you believe in speaker break-in there is nothing special you have to do, just listen to them. It's not like you have to change the oil after the first 100 bass drum hits or anything

The Axiom staff are generally not big believers in break-in so they don't attempt to break the speakers in before shipping (although they do perform some testing).

I was never sure whether speakers required a break-in or not, and was always a little amused by emotional responses questions like this sometimes generated. Whether they do or don't isn't going to be changed by popular vote. For what it's worth, the general opinion of the industry/media gurus is that break-in is an accepted fact.

My experience with Axiom M3's was that I thought there was some degree of improvement over the first 40 hrs or so. Nothing extreme, but I thought it was noticeable.

More recently, though, there was no doubt about my new SVS sub. The difference between hour 1 and hour 8 was NIGHT and DAY! I was seriously ready to send it back when I first hooked it up. But a few hours playing time made a very definite, not in your head, now you can feel it difference.

My experience, for what it's worth.

The only practical conclusion I draw from al this is, don't form hard opinions on a speaker that is new-born. They might improve. Oddly, I've never heard it suggested that speakers ever sounded worse after 'break-in'....

I had a tweeter come loose and fall into the cabinet after the first few hours of use. That sounded worse.

(not an Axiom BTW)

I feel the fine folks here on the Axiom threads, would be industry/media gurus...so to say that "break-in is an accepted fact" is just an opinion, of some, not the entire industry. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

So your opinion... is that the industry's opinion... is that only some of the industry accept the accepted fact that speaker break-in (if real) is a reality...

Geez, no wonder nobody wants to talk about it
