Hello everyone! I thought about going to another web site with this question(because it's about the denon not the axioms) but I figured that I bought the 2805 because most of you recommended it so what the heck). My new system works great. Couldn't be happier. I hooked up the cable box directly to the 2805 using 1 digital audio out and 1 s-video cable (my tv doesn't have component video and the 2805 doesn't down grade). I get sound from all channels 100 and higher(cox cable) but do not get sound for channels lower than 100. When I disconnet the 1 digital audio out cable and connect the cable to the 2805 using 2 rca cables from the regular audio out, I get all the channels but they are all in analog. I am wondering if the channels below 100 are analog. But even if that's the case, there has to be a way to do it without switching the cables and the assignment on the 2805 every time you change between abovee channel 100 and below channel 100. Thanks in advance for any advice. Again the system is awsome.

Hmmm. I took a quick spin through the manual but nothing jumped out at me. You definitely want to have the box hooked up both ways (coax and stereo rca) but I'm not sure how to tell the receiver to automatically choose inputs depending on what it sees.

HK receivers have a highly annoying "don't play anything until you have sniffed the inputs and figured out what's going on" function you can't really turn off, but the good side of that is that they will automatically use the digital input if it is there and fall back to RCA stereo of not.

Denon experts please...

I have Cox cable. You must hook up both the digital cable AND the 2-channel analog from the cable box to the receiver. Both should be hooked up to the same device. In my receiver (Onkyo), I have them both plugged into video 3.

The 2 channel analog runs directly into the audio input for video 3. But, I have the digital plugged into my digital input 3, and must go into the receiver's input menu and assign digital input 3 to video 3. Then, when the audio from the cable is digital, the receiver automatically chooses the digital signal, and when it's analog, it chooses the analog signal.

I do the same thing as Ajax with a Yamaha RX-V540 receiver.

Yup, that's the ticket. Gotta have both hooked up.
My (crap) cable co. also sends below 100 in analog and above in digital. I cannot wait until I have the time to research the best deal on a Sattelite!
My Yam also automaticly switches between analog and digital dpending on what signal it is being fed.

Thanks all. I hooked up both the digital audio out as well as the 2 rca regular audio cables and set the receiver for coax 2 (digital). When the signal is in digital the receiver sends it out in digital; when in analog, it comes out in anolog. No switching anything. Again, thanks for the help. BTW, tonight was the first night I had a chance to watch an entire movie with the 60's, 150, QS8's and the 500. WOW!

Alright! Glad you got it figured out. What movie did you watch?

Kill Bill I. I thought the movie was at best OK, but the effects were great.

If they fit your tastes, you might try The Incredibles and/or Flight of the Phoenix. Some serious LFE, and surround effects in each. There is an airplane flyover right in the beginning of Flight of the Phoenix (while Johnny Cash is singing "I been everywhere, boy") that had me ducking for the floor.

Imagine yourself flying along the tops of some far away desert dunes in a C-119 Flying Boxcar powered by a couple of 3500 hp Wright 3350 radial engines while having THIS tune blaring....

I was totin' my pack along the dusty Winnamucka road
When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load
If your goin' to Winnamucka, Mack, with me you can ride
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, 'Listen! I've traveled every road in this here land'

Johnny Cash, RIP!

EDIT...this opening alone is worth the price of the movie!

I will check them out, thanks. Does anyone know about the low level hum that I am getting from the 500? I've already taken out the screw, and it's helped- but I still have a hum.

Great song though i must admit, it can't hold a candle to the remake by Canadian icons McLean & McLean.

brother bob- now, did you recite that song by memory, or did you look it up?

i am a big johnny cash fan, and i sing a few of his songs. but, i have yet to learn this one cause i aint got the discipline to actually sit down and learn the 'city' lines. i can get about half way throught the 2nd list, and then just lose it. still makes my friends laugh though.
