It's almost as bad as you can imagine. Someone found the isolated vocal track of David Lee Roth singing Running with the Devil, and posted it for our enjoyment.

Wow.

Wow, that is glorious!

You can almost hear the “whoosh” of the in-studio scissor kick that must have accompanied that squeal from about 1:48 in.

And that slide whistle(?)…pure genius.

(with appologies to VH fans everywhere.)

Sounds like someone's tasering him, over and over again.

Awesome beyond all limits of ordinary human awesomeness.

It's a miracle he can still talk. The human voice is not supposed to be able to produce two different notes at the same time. Doing so usually indicates there is something very wrong with the vocal chords.

Unless you're a Tuvan throat singer (or other variety of Overtone singer).

Huun Huur Tu, a superb band!

I'm guessing he's got a harmonizer going on during those yelps

Jack, you owe it to yourself to rent Genghis Blues.

Actually, everyone here should see it.

A little digging finds the original original blog entry that this is from.

Warning, disturbing picture included. Why? Why?!

Appropos of nothing except Bren's location...

I was minding my own business listening to Pandora yesterday, when I'm suddenly exposed to "One Great City!" by The Weakerthans, in which the chorus repeats "I hate Winnipeg".

Why?

They were probably there during winter.

Yes, I'm familiar with the Tuvan throat singers. It takes years of practice for them to do what they do. Note that I said the ability to hit more than one note at a time usually indicates there is something very wrong with the vocal chords.

Somehow, I doubt David Lee Roth is a Tuvan throat singer (or any other variety of Overtone singer). I suspect the reason he's able to hit more than one note at a time is because he's screwed his voice. Come to think of it, after hearing what he does to his throat to hit the high notes, I'm certain that's how he's able to do it.

The Weakerthans are from here. "One Great City" was the old city motto... read the lyrics... just a good perspective on what sucks about this city (at least when it was written).

Good way to stay humble...
