Your guys prefer the concert Bluray in which audio format?
I knew US/EU bluray only comes with one HD format in the disc but most Hong Kong concert BD comes with all 3 of them!!

my rating:-

1. 5.1 LPCM (voices coming from center speaker)
2. Dolby TrueHD (more clarity and the bass are more "true" to me)
3. DTS-Master (if I wanted a more ummpppphh in the bass department, but the voices mostly from L/R speakers but not from center and it can be 96/24 for all channel)

The only way they could sound different is if they were from different mixes. All the formats are completely equal in sound quality. That is to say, they are lossless. Bits encoded from LPCM into TrueHD or DTS-HD MA, and then decoded end up exactly the same as they were before. LPCM just takes more space on disc, and thus can have a negative impact on picture quality. Including three lossless tracks surely took space that could have been used to improve the picture quality.

All three formats are also equal in the number of channels with sampling rates and bit depths. They can do 6 (5.1) channels of 192/24, or 8 (7.1) channels of 96/24.

You are so not fun, Chris.

You mean the studio doing 3 different mix for a same concert?

I am blur, if they are all of the same quality and same mix, how come for dts-ma, the singer's voice does not came out from center speaker but LPCM does have voices from there?

That would definitely be a mix issue and not a quality issue.

It's common to have multiple mixes for concert videos. There are usually two. One stereo (that would account for the non-center channel), and the other surround with the crowd mixed in the rear. I've also seen some concerts with a third that placed the band in all the channels, so it was like you were on stage with them.

Michael, Chris is entirely correct; the three are bit-for-bit identical as formats and they can't be rated simply that way. As was said, different mixing and mastering can make particular tracks sound better or worse, but that's not an inherent characteristic of the format which is involved. In some cases even higher bit-rate lossy tracks aren't audibly distinguishable from the loss-less tracks.

What if you played just one of those soundtracks through a tube amp with expensive wires?

Huh? What THEN, John? smile

I usually go for the 5.1 sound, even though I have a 3.1 system. It just sounds better than the stereo mix.

Surely you meant to include that the wires were elevated. We are civilized people here, you know.

Well, obviously! I didn't think it even had to be mentioned....

Yeah, Mark; then it might not sound as good. These new formats are pretty smart, but dumb buyers can beat them.

Not to mention you would have less bier/cerveza money.
