Guitar great Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughn performed his last performance before being tragically killed in a helecopter accident in East Troy, WI. (Alpine Valley) at 12:40 a.m. (8/27/90).

Being the huge SRV fan that I am, y'all know I just had to bring this to a mention.

RIP Stevie, we *still* miss you...and to go along with Amie's music to kick off the weekend thread I do believe a little SRV is in order for me this evening.

I can recall exactly where I was when I heard the news Stevie was killed. It was a very sad day, very sad .You might want to play Peice in the Valley. That my freinds is a disc of Steives concert one night before his tragic death at Alpine Valley.

That would be in order for today Rick.

In memory; SRV will find his way sonically through my speakers at some point this evening.

It was in the spring of that year that I saw him for the first and only time. I went to see Jeff Beck and some guy I'd barely heard of named Stevie Ray Vaughn was opening...

Breathtaking show, and a true loss.

I saw SRV 5x... several times front and center. If I could have been anyone else in the world, it would have been him.

I woke up listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn this A.M.
His guitar work is amazing every time I hear it.
He would have been 51 years old on Oct.3rd.
We share birthdays 10 years apart.

Strange? You don't LOOK 61.

I knew when I wrote it that someone who is REALLY old would chime in.

Forget about a response Brady, he's already in bed.

I saw Bonnie Raitt at the Minnesota State Fair on that night. She played a wonderful 4 song tribute to Stevie (Pride and Joy, Voodoo Chile, Crossfire, and The Sky is Crying if memory serves me well) tears streaming down her cheeks. A fitting tribute and powerful ending to a horrible day.
