I'm a proud owner of pair of M80s. I'm wondering if any M80 owners or any other AXIOM speakers owners, have experimenting with upgrading the cross over of their speakers. I mean if anybody have tryed to upgrade the caps with Hovlands or Theta, or the entire network. I have read that the sound of the speaker will improve by upgrading the caps with Hovlands,Theta or other high quality cap.

HG, the capacitors that Ian has designed into the M80 are already "high quality" and no change is necessary. You should be wary of the "upgraditis" that seems to infect audio and which often leads to spending a lot of money and effort on something which makes no audible difference( except in the imagination of the one spending the money and effort).

Thanks for your response Johnk. I do understand that in the audio business more expensive not necessary means to be better. Which in this case my M80s sound better to my ears that other more expensive brands that I have listened in the past. What I try to do is make great speaker better. Although, I'm a firm believer that good components with the right combination can improve a system. I will like to heard from Ian and Alan or anybodyelse out there on their take, if getting better caps would improve the speaker. I read about other companies that people improve an already good speaker by making some caps or cross over upgrades.

We have done extensive testing with various capacitor types and have always selected the best performance and power capabilities for each speaker. Changing the caps will not improve the sound and may even reduce the power handling.
