DISH 921 HDTV receiver with HDTV pvr.

These are being sold on ebay for $350 which is a crazy good price. My only problem/question is whether I would be able to use it for OTA HDTV receiving and secondly for it's HDTV pvr features without ever activating it? I have no intentions of subscribing to a sat. service at this time.

If anyone has any answers or ideas about this please let me know.

You'd be better served posting this question on DBSTalk ; there's a dedicated 921 forum there.

A quick summary: for all of the Dish PVRs, you must be receiving signal from one of their satellites (110, I think) for anything on the receiver to work, including OTA reception. I seem to remember reading that OTA timers on the 921 are pretty unreliable, so this may end up being an annoying purchase for you.
