I bought some Xingu from Brazil for the first time yesterday. Not bad. I like the dark beers.

This one is for Tom:

The chef for this event is the guy who did the beer dinner I went to. I know it's $100 a pop, but as a highly rare event, you should drop the cash. \:\)

Yes, there are MANY Seattle Beer Week events. I am still pondering my options. I appreciate you thinking of me, and wish that you were here so that I would have a worthy companion.

You guys weren't kidding about letting my beer sit in the bottle longer. I just had my last bottle of IPA after dinner tonight (about two weeks since I had the last one and probably close two two months since I had the first one) and it was head and shoulders above the previous bottles. The honey flavor is practically all gone, letting the malt show through much better and leaving only a pleasant tinge of flavor. The head is made of small, tight bubbles that linger a long time, which gives the beer a great velvety feel in the mouth. Here it is, halfway gone.

This last bottle was very educational and got me looking forward to making my next batch. I told my dad I'd bring some with me on my roadtrip to Oklahoma this July.

It's American Craft Beer Week!

I'm in Denver this week, taking a training class for work, and I'll be celebrating by visiting Oskar Blues Brewery in nearby Lyons for a tour, beers, and dinner. I may also visit New Belgium in Fort Collins if I have time.

Last night, I kicked things off at my sister's house and drank some Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale, Dogfish Head Red & White Ale (a Belgian wit-style brewed with grape juice), and St. Bernardus Abt 12. I had a slight headache this morning, but it was worth it. \:\)

I read this as drank some Stoned Oak Arrogant Bastard Ale...

Maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself.

Fort Collins is a beautiful city. I like it, at least. It's about an hour north of Denver.

I didn't know about New Belgium brewery when I visited. Pity, because I really enjoy their beers.

Tonight I'm afraid I snubbed American craft brews. Instead, my brother-in-law and I shared 750mls of Foret Saison and Duchesse de Bourgogne (Flemish sour red ale). Both were excellent expressions of their style. The Foret paired excellently with the grilled steaks we had for dinner, and the Duchesse was a fine aperitif.
