I decided to splurge a bit on beer after spending a few hours at the town's new outdoor activity pool (slides, flumes, tubing river, waterfalls, etc.) with my son today. I picked up a six-pack of Stone Ruination IPA and a 750ml of
Allagash Curieux, a Belgian-style tripel aged in Jim Beam barrels for 8 weeks. I felt slightly guilty since the total at the register was about $35.
When I walked into the house with the bag, my wife looked at me and said, "Did you buy beer, too?"
"Too? I kinda splurged."
Then she tells me that she splurged, too. She picked up a six-pack of
Stone Ruination IPA (heh), a four-pack of
Dogfish Head 90-minute IPA, and a 750ml of
Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel, which is a Belgian take on the imperial IPA style. The guy at the store my wife went to asked if the IPAs were for her husband. She told him IPAs were her favorite style and I enjoyed them as well, but that I usually preferred Belgian beer. This last bottle is what he recommended and I can't wait to try it.
What a haul!
