I want to say they were around $15 for the pack. Hmm, the store I was at had them on the bottom shelf right behind a floor stack of wine cases and I crawled around trying to get to them and see the obscured price label.

I just found out that Virgin America -- who I'll be flying with next week to LAX -- is now serving 21st Amendment IPA on their US flights. This may be our family's best flight yet.

I love tasting new beers. However, for the first time ever, I could not finish a beer due to taste. I was prepared in my mind for a strong beer as it was 8 or 9 % but I honestly can't identify what kind of taste this beer had. I can't even think of another yucky taste to compare it to in a an attempt to explain it to you.

All I will say is that it is well named.


It was in a taster pack along with another beer that made me grimace. I should have been wary of it as well considering the label had a demon on it.

To give the brewer some credit, the third variety was not bad. it had a fruity flavor but was disturbingly red in color for a beer. In fact, in hind sight, the whole experience was like one big horror movie.

Luckily, my brother had a commonplace but tried and true Guinness in the fridge to save the day.

Anyone else tried it? I'd be interested to know if it was just me. It's from Quebec so hopefully I haven't insulted a certain board member by dissing his favorite ale.

I enjoy every single beer I've tried from Unibroue, La Fin Du Monde included. I think your beer palate needs some exercise. I think my favorite of theirs is Maudite.

Murph doesn't like Belgian beers, apparently. Good to know.

I'm with Peter; I really enjoy almost all the Unibroue beers, with La Fin Du Monde being among the top 3-4.

"La fin du monde" is pretty good. A bit of an acquired taste, though (at least as far as I can remember when I first tasted it about 17-18 years ago!).

No need to be sorry, Peter's assessment may very well be correct. I have complained before that beer variety is extremely limited here. Which is why I normally enjoy experimenting with all varieties and concepts. I always choose local brews when I travel.

I do recall having many great Belgian beer, Some of my more unusual beer tasting has been with Belgian and German varieties as I have an uncle of German origin who constantly finds ways to import lesser know European beers. Of course Belgians are well known for making every kind of beer there is so one could hardly rule out all Belgian beers based on one brand from Quebec.

In fact, although I admit I had to google a bit to remember the name, he once even had an entire keg of Lambic beer set up in his basement. It was scary to look at and a bit sour but drinkable. He cautioned me against having more than one as it can be hard on the tummy for those uninitiated, he claimed. I think he just didn't want to give away too much of his prized stock.

All that being said, I stick to my personal tastes on this one. Beers. They can't all be good or can they????????
