Evening all. Got my Axioms and Outlaw 990/7125 all in one week. Almost afraid to hook the stuff up in case it doesn't sound as great as it looks. Question: Living in Hawaii (~ 2 miles from the beach), everything corrodes so fast. Has anyone tried any type of anti-corrosion, conductive grease on their bare wire speaker leads (for the qs8's)? thanks for any help - will check in after the Pearl Jam show - time to get rockin...

Mark we live a couple of blocks from the beach here in south Florida and I've never had any issues with corrosion *inside* of the house on any of my terminals or connects but on our agricultural spray planes which are subjected to numerous corrosives including tons upon tons of dry fertilizer during the hot humid summer months we use a Dielectric grease on all of the electrical connects and Cannon plugs with good results.

Thanks Bob. You know, I don't know what it is with Hawaii -everything inside and outside of my house rusts so quickly - only the best stainless products, like the brewpot I use for my beer, withstand rusting, and even then, if you get a scratch, forget it. Of course, our houses are built "open style" - not quite thatch walls but not far from it. Regarding the dielectric grease, is the idea to hook up the wires, and then to coat the exposed areas? I mean, one wouldn't want to put the grease in a contact area, because it's non-conductive, correct?

you could always terminate the cables with spades and seal them up with heatshrink. I have seen quite a few peices of various electronic equipment that have come from houses on the water and I think that eventually if you dont have your house sealed up all the time with A/C its kinda imminent. Especially with dust build-up that can accumilate and then absorb the salt in the air. Bad combo

You could also tin the ends of your speakerwire with solder. Not sure if I would try that anti-corrode stuff that electricians sometimes use.
