Ok...with all the beer talk and now even wireless internet talk going on around here I've created this thread. Let's see how many different off topic conversations we can have in one thread.
I'll start - Anyone here collect comic books or original comic book artwork?

I think spiff is shooting for the all time highest number of posts in a single week.
Maybe a nice graph on each users identity for posts per period of time would be lovely.

I used to collect comics as a young'n, and still get an annual itch I scratch by buying a graphic novel. Can't say I've owned comic art, but I do own some Looney Tunes animation art.

I didn't read many comic books from the time that I was growing up; I read all of my Dad's comic books that he bought in the mid-60s to early 70s. My perspective on comics was all skewed from what my friends thought of them in high school...

Wow, a daughter into comics - talk about rare! Do you have any sons that she picked up the habit from, or is this something she naturally gravitated to? Most... ok all women I know find comics VERY juvenile, bordering on completely inane.
My personal goal in life - Find a woman who at least *likes* but ideally *loves* video games, movies, and cars - then marry her
Oh crap... I'm already off topic in the off topic thread!

This is a very Japanese thing, ZeN, although it's being rapidly imported to the US in the recent years.
Have you heard of Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Rayearth, Vision Of Escaflowne, etc., etc...? -- these are all "girl's comics." They have been made into movies, too, and English version DVD's are also available, I believe.
In Japan, comics are big in both boys and girls. As you can imagine, though, the actual titles very rarely cross the gender border. The few exceptions include Rurouni Kenshin, hugely popular in both genders.

Just out of curiousity, Ranma 1/2 is a "girl's" comic/anime, isn't it? My (male) friends in high school were all really into it.

I have this feeling that this will be the most popular thread on the boards for awhile. It's kind of refreshing to get away from all the "M22s or M60s?" threads. ;-)
