Anyone have any thoughts pro or con on using a Yamaha MX-2000 stereo amp to drive a pair of M80s and a Yamaha Z9 av receiver for the Center, Front and Rear Surrounds?

thanks,

Sean

Sean, welcome. If you happen to already have a MX-2000 and just want to give it something to do, that might not be a bad idea. However, the Z-9 is a very powerful receiver(note the results, including 4 ohm, in the Audioholics test ) and should handle the M80s and other speakers with ease in most setups. If you don't have the Z-9 now, there are of course other receivers that also can do the job.

Hey John,

thanks for the feedback. Actually, I do have the Z9 and two of the MX- 2000 and was thinking I could at least give one of them something to do.

I looked up some pics of the MX 2000 amp, WOW what a beautiful piece of equipment. I wouldn't mind one like that in my setup
