Did somebody say blackbird? Just went to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum next to Dulles Airport last weekend. My brother took a few pictures.

I got to see the Blackbird when I was in the Robbins airforce base aircraft museum in georgia about a month ago. They had it sortof stuffed off in a corner but it was still cool to see that airplane. It was the actual one that set the world speed record which to this day still stands.

The one at Dulles didn't set the speed record, but did set the record for the fastest US coast-to-coast flight: 1 hour and 4 minutes from LA to DC. After they landed they taxi'd right over to the Udvar-Hazy Center and turned it over to the Smithsonian.

We saw the retro version in Seattle.

Always thought some day I'd build a 70 Impala something about the body shape has always really intrigued me.

If I ever need to convince Lis it's a good idea, I'll just offer up one of these as an alternative project. Apparently the El Camino is "stupid".

Always felt the same, for whatever reason, about the 1965 Impala. There's just no accounting for taste, is there?

But then, the 1958 Chevy did more for me than the 1957, which everybody loves and is universally considered a classic. GO FIGURE! (Maybe it was the dual headlights )

I’ve always liked Impala’s too. The 64 SS 409 was my favorite. Then the bouncing bunny low rider club found them. Seeing one hopping around the streets killed my fond memories of a classic street rod.
