3. Developing the pmbuko series speakers; they will be surprisingly tall, but they're not very efficient and the signal-to-noise ratio is regrettably low. ... moreover, they intermittently emit noxious fumes from their ports ... That's a surprisingly accurate assessment.

Reminds me vaguely of that Far Side cartoon, "School for the Gifted", where the kid is pushing hard to try and get in, with a PULL sign clearly marked on the door.
