I recently watched a great documentary about the current state of copyright, called " Good Copy Bad Copy". It goes in depth in all areas of music sampling and peer-to-peer file sharing, including some of my favorite Musical Artists and rare interviews with the masterminds of " The Pirate Bay". I recommend this great watch, if you have an hour to spare. Canada recently passed a Bill called C-16; an Act to amend the Copyright Act, which creates an unfair balance between the rights of copyright holders and consumers. I'm curious to what people think about copyright and what your views on it are... Watch it here: http://www.goodcopybadcopy.net

Hmm, green is a color I've never seen before.
Blue has been for all users except Axiom employees / administrators, who have been red.
I suspect that Axiom is now stratifying their employees, where red is still command/admin but green is for the Axiom employee who cannot be an admin. on the boards.
Tim Lum, you realize that this means that you're gonna be the first member of the away team to bite the dust. Better set your phaser and have it in your hand at all times.

I'm realizing that Post Threads never go the direction you want them to go... I thought it'd be bad to "copy" everybody's blue user name.

Fair use has no meaning anymore, if you ask the RIAA. Bunch of communists.
For what it's worth, I haven't purchased a physical copy of music in years. Just plan too expensive. I got into the bad habit of borrowing and ripping from friends. No doubt illegal. Unquestionably not in line with RIAA acceptable practices.
Then, I discovered several overseas sites that let you download music for a fraction of what Apple charges you. While the RIAA refuses to "negotiate with terrorists" and leaves the royalty dollars on the table in such countries as Russia, the bottom line is that, since albums (as opposed to single songs) started costing me $1.00 each, my gross consumption has skyrocketed. I went from spending $.00 on music per month to probably $20 per month.
The supply and demand of music has gotten all out of whack. The economics don't work anymore, especially given the prevalence of near on demand access to artists' music via the internet. The balance between discovering new music, keeping up with established artists, lining the pockets of the recording industry suits and compensating artists is all out of synch.
If you want my prediction, dinosaurs like BMG will be extinct long before artists stop making music and consumers stop buying it (however that is accomplished). Evolve or die. Isn't that a law or something? Whatever the case, the recording industry seems intent on disobeying that law.

I'm watching it now. I'm of the opinion that art is only harmed by copyright. It only serves corporate interests.

I disagree, to some extent. Copyright is important for the artist, although it has been hijacked by corporate interests (and estates). I think the artist is entitled to earn money from his/her creation for a given period of time (say, 20 years) before it enters the public domain. Otherwise there is no financial incentive to create.

Yeah, I need to clarify. Copyright should be limited to protecting the artist from imitators, resellers, replicators, etc. Derivative works, such as the sampling of music, departures on a theme (literary or painting) should be permitted.

I'm realizing that Post Threads never go the direction you want them to go... I thought it'd be bad to "copy" everybody's blue user name. That has to be one of the fastest thread hijacks ever. Quite humorous. But i agree with the green and red thing. That clearly needs to be resolved asap. Actually when i read the title i was thinking, "Bon Cop, Bad Cop". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bon_Cop,_Bad_Cop

How's that, Ken?

You gotta wonder what new people are thinking when they see all of our avatars... this has been far more successful than I anticipated.

Yeah, I haven't PM'd him yet, though. I PM'd Randy and got him to Scooterize himself, and mdrew's self-Oscarization was just something else.
Jack and Ray3 seem to enjoy being the hecklers, heh heh heh.
Not to mention all the others.
I think I'll need to release a new update soon.
Sounds like an end of the day project, to treat myself to another day of work done.
I mean an hour of work done.

wow....can I have a green name too? [sing] It's not that easy being green Having to spend each day the color of the leaves When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold Or something much more colorful like that [/sing] joking aside, I still remember when I watched RayCharles singing this song on the muppets show as a kid . One life changing moment for me for sure...
