We watched Sleeping Beauty last night on Blu-ray, I was very impressed on how well they restored this film, the colors and images to say the least are dazzling. This has now got to be one of my favorite Blu-ray films in terms of picture quality.

It really does look nice. High-definition gives you that much more appreciation for the artistry involved.

Unless the artistry is that of the evening news team's makeup artist.

I just watched the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, and I'm going to watch more. The first episode was promising. My sister is jealous that I'm watching them for the first time.

Couldn't get into that one TV. I should give it another shot. After all, I couldn't stand "Cowboy Bebop" at first, and now I love it.

I thought last night's episode of Boston Legal was exceptional.

Started on the second season of Adam-12 last night. A few of the episodes have commentary tracks by a couple LAPD veterans, one of which joined the force in '68- the year of the first season. I'm gonna go watch some more now.

Yeah, you may want to try it on disc. I don't know how you watched it on TV (if you saw episodes in order, starting at the beginning or not), but I'm liking the way the story is developing. It keeps me wanting to watch the next one. One thing you may try is watching it in Japanese with subtitles, if the English voice work leaves something to be desired. I'm watching more anime this way now, though I used to think it was pointless. I figured that since it was animated, the dubbing doesn't throw you off like when live action is dubbed. Plus, I simply hadn't developed a taste for Japanese voice acting. After a lot more exposure, I'm enjoying the original Japanese a lot more. While maybe it's that the original performances are very cool, I bet a lot of the time it is the fact that it's not a language I understand, so I don't know when the performances are bad. Still, it works. I've rewatched several anime shows and movies in Japanese after having seen them in English, and I find a new appreciation for them.

But yeah, I think there's a lot to enjoy in Fullmetal Alchemist. I'm just hoping that the story keeps expanding in a fulfilling way. My sister says I need to read the manga, too. Apparently, the anime got ahead of the manga at some point, so they kind of went their own way. I suppose it would be interesting to see how they diverge.

I'll add it to my Netflix queue.

You know, one of the things I liked about Cowboy Bebop was the English voice work. It's weird because I only watch foreign movies in their original language because the emotion of the actors comes through regardless of my comprehension of the actual words.

I don't know, with animation, I find it such a visually rich experience I don't want my eyes drawn down to the subtitles. I should work on that some more.
