Ok, so I was sitting watching tv tonight with the lights out, and all of a sudden my son's Wii "Blue" drive lights turned on and have been flashing from a intense blue to dim over and over and over.

The power light is in standby "yellow" mode, and there is no game disk in the unit. Is this some form of auto updating via the wireless connection?

Ours does that too Randy. Drives me nuts, but I've not yet bothered to research it at all.

The only way to make it stop, at least for a while, is to cycle the power on and off again.

OK, twice in as many days I've demonstrated my technical shortcomings here.

About the flashing drive light: apparently it's supposed to do that.

Who knew?? Thanks for motivating me to find an answer.

At least now I'm not worried that it is defective like my 360 was!

interesting read, thanks, we must have a message from Wii that we won Publishers Clearing House's Millions. \:\)

As John mentioned, I was worried the evil spirits had migrated from my basement upwards....

The yellow light on the Wii doesn't mean it's sitting and doing nothing. I went in my router's activity log and the wii constanly refreshes the IP and doing connections. It's been a while since we've used it but it seems it's playing by iteself.

Won't that make it go blind?

Yellow means you have Wiiconnect24 on and the system is in standby mode, meaning it is able to accept Wiimail and keep the various channels updated with new info as required, although it seems to me that the channels really don't update till you access them.

You have a system update. The latest one allows you to run the Wii Channel from SD cards. FMU, the SD slot will also support SDHC cards up to 32GB. Download away!
