Buy a case of apple juice and keep it in your attic.

The next time you run out of beer, hopefully it will have fermented and taste slightly better than budweiser.

Birthday beers:

Two were forgettable, three were not:

1) Old Engine Oil - "Old Ale" aged in a whiskey barrel
2) Bell's Porter - Classic Porter
3) Upland Winter Warmer Barleywine - Good fruity/malty kick with a great finish

I need to get me some more barleywine. Ken and Tom, did either of you try Sierra Nevada Bigfoot at your festival? I can get some at my local wine/beer store if it's decent.

But I can ALWAYS recommend SN Bigfoot. Had some in a bottle recently. Yummay.

Speaking of our favorite brewery from Chico, I recently discovered a new beer from them - Torpedo Extra IPA. Apparently, it is a new year-round beer that was released for the first time a couple months ago. I still really like Sierra-Nevada beers, and this is no exception. Hoptown, baby.

I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. I just got back from Wegman's with a new (to me) beer. It's called Palo Santo Marron (beer advocate link).

The label reads:
 Quote:
An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented Brown Ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. The caramel and vanilla complexity unique to this ale comes from the exotic Paraguayan Palo Santo wood from which these tanks were crafted. At 10,000 gallons each, these are the largest wooden brewing vessels built in America since before Prohibition. It's all very exciting. We have wood. Now you do too.

I cannot wait to try this. THe only thing holding me back is that it just went into the fridge. Did I mention it's a 12%abv beer? The only downside is it cost me about $13.50 for a 4-pack.

We also picked up a Stone Ruination IPA. Guaranteed tasty. \:\)

Wouldn't you know that Fredericksburg is getting a Wegman's the same month that I'll be moving away?

Ha ha! Leesburg is getting a Wegman's. Soon I won't have to drive 12 miles to get to one. \:\)

Oh, and the beer? It was absolutely wonderful. Grab it if you can.
