Boy, Yuma brings back a lot of memories. My father was stationed at Yuma Proving Ground (US Army testing ground for heat and dirt..that should give you an idea of what type of a place Yuma is! \:\)

Actually, it was when the Iran Hostage rescue was being planned and every once in a while, they would shut down the power to YPG so the choppers could fly to the desert mock up w/o light pollution. What a hot place Yuma was!!!
I have the exact set up as you and absolutely love it!

The squirrel recommends a good quality microbrew. Lots of vitamins 'n stuff.

The border will add a day, so probably 2-3 days.

Hmmm... his speakers were due in on the 9th... his last posts were on.... the 9th. Did he like them so much he had a heart attack and died? Or did he pull a Bob on us and completely hate them to the point he can't even stand to tell us how disappointed in them he is? I know I don't have an ideal room, and these sound amazing. I really can't see how anyone could just completely hate them. Perhaps If I'd heard better speakers before buying these I may have been somewhat disappointed. But there's just nothing I can imagine anyone could regret with these?

Even my MP3's from my computer sound great on these! I was a bit weary, I really wanted them to sound good playing through my computer at a measly 128 bit rate, but I wasn't holding my breath. First I played some of the MP3's, they sounded really good. Then I threw in a CD, it sounded better, MUCH better. But the sound quality of the MP3's are actually very surprising to me. Like I said I wasn't expecting much, but I feel confident in playing them to guests without worrying about them. When I really want to impress, then I'll put in a CD. But the MP3's play very nice as well.

Maybe when people announce they have speakers coming we should ask how many CDs they have. Then we can multiply that by the average play time of a CD and estimate when we will hear from them again ;\)

Sorry it's taken so long. It has actually been a combination of all the reasons stated in the above posts. LOL yeah it does take time to listen to 800+ cds let's see using an average time of 60 miutes = 800 hours or about 33 days listening 24/7. We also had a big family event over the weekend that limited the amount of time I had to listen to anything at all. I also have an issue with my ep-500, as in I can't get any sound from it. JC and I did some troubleshooting the other day and have determined that the amp has a problem. A new one is being sent as I write this. Ok that was the bad news. The good news is that the speakers sound fantastic. Even without the SW the M-80s make everything I play sound better that I have ever heard it before. The QS8's are the best surrounds I have ever heard. They make movies come to life. We were watching Valkyrie Sunday evening and the opening scene in North Africa when the anti-aircraft gun starts firing scared the crap out of both my wife and I. I swear I had to check myself out because I thought I had been shot. I still have some tweaking to do. My wife is going to be gone all of next week so you can be assured that there will be some serious listening going on while she is away. I can't wait to get the amp in and power up the SW so I can get the full effect.

That's kinda cruddy about the bad subwoofer, but glad you liked the rest of the set up! Really, those QS8s are something extra special--brings the surround experience in movies to life.

I hear ya brother! I had a similar let down last night when I blew a fuse just before movie time! It sucks sooo bad when you're all pumped for something and it doesn't go according to plan.

Tonight I get to hear the EP800 during a movie though, so at least my wait won't be quite as bad as yours. But that puts you and I in exactly the same boat... listening to movies with the M80's, VP150 and QS8's without the help of a subwoofer of any kind... I was truely impressed with how well the M80's handled the duties of LFE during 'Dark Knight'. Now a side by side comparison of movie night with no subwoofer v/s movie night with the EP800 will no doubt be no contest. But as you said, the M80's are truely fantastic all by themselves.

Have I mentioned that I love my M80's?

Ok I did some serious listening this weekend and the more I listen to these speakers the more I love them. I read in a forum here once that it takes a little time for your ears to adjust to the quality sound that the Axioms produce. I think that maybe a fairly accurate statement, especially when you were listening to an htib and move to the Epic 80-500 system. I'm still waiting for the new amp for the EP-500 to get here, looks like Wed of this week, so I turned off the QS8s and VP150 when listening to just audio over the weekend. Wow what a soundstage those too speakers create, they absolutely fill my room . Even in my accoustically challenged room the M-80s are just plain fantastic, you don't hear the speakers you hear the music. I am an Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull fan so I broke out my Minstral in the Gallery Remaster CD. I closed my eyes and it was like they were in the room playing a concert just for me. There were times when Ian's flute sent shivers down my spine. We also listen to a lot of Classical too, my wife commented during Beethovens 9th that even during the softer passages you are able to hear every instrument. Then I turned the VP150 and QS8s back on and watched the LOTR "Fellowship of the Ring". I was pretty sure going in that the scenes of the Mines of Moria were going to be special. I was not disappointed, The sounds of the water tricking aound you, and the echos in the tunnels and Great Hall were just wonderful. When Pippin knocked the head off of the corpse and then it all fell down the well was great, I don't remember being able to hear just how far down that well everything fell before. Then the drums, OMG even without the sub the drums were very deep and tight. I can't wait to see that scene again with the sub, it may just vibrate the plaster off the outside of my house. Ok I spent many hours this weekend listening to a variety of music and watching movies. I can honestly say that Axiom will not be getting these speakers back.

Congrats, Olderbutweiser! Yeah, it takes a bit to readjust your ears to a new sound, but you did it the right way and kept an open mind.

Moments like you had this weekend are what this hobby is all about. Now sit back and enjoy your system as much as you can, cuz it'll always make you happy.

Just wait until you can watch movies with a good subwoofer. It adds a whole new dimension to the experience .

LOL you don't see the Balrog you feel him. From the moment he enters you feel every footstep. OMG when he roars at Gandalf and bursts into flame the whole house was rocking. I have been trying some different locations for the sub and I have been using that chapter and the Tomb of Balin has reference. I think the troll is equally impressive, plus you have the sounds of the fight going on around you. It's really cool when the troll is swinging his chain around the room, the QS8s make that sound so real. I have said this before, Axiom is not getting these speakers back.

Unfortunately I am in the midst of moving so I will only be able to temporarily have them here before we move... Looking forward to it for sure. Should have the theatre up and running in the new house in about three months, so I'll have to just play with them until then. I told the wife she may get the boot from the bed the first night.

It's really cool when the troll is swinging his chain around the room, the QS8s make that sound so real. I have said this before, Axiom is not getting these speakers back.

Just wait until LOTR is released on Blu-ray in November......

I had heard they were only releasing LOTR in the threatrical version on Blu-ray. I'll wait until the extended version comes out.

On amazon.com, the following product alert is truly scary:
PRODUCT ALERT:
"The Lord of the Rings (Extended Editions)" is scheduled to be released on Blu-ray in 2011 or 2012.

OK please let us know if there is significant improvement in the Blu-Ray version. The DVD version sounds and looks great on my system. It's hard to imagine being that much better on Blu-ray. but then I've been wr wro wron wrong before(I really have a hard time with the word).

Hey, me too. I also favor the Fonzie technique of saying that particular word.

On average, about how long does it take before I might expect the email from Noreen?

Welcome to the forum!

Did you order A stock straight from the website or from the factory outlet website. From my own experience A stock ships out within less than 48 business hours (actually in my case it has been less than 24 hours) and if you order from the factory outlet (b-stock) there is a 2-4 week wait period before your order ships.

You can also clarify with an Axiom representative when your order will ship by email or through their toll free number.

No problem. Today is a national holiday in Canada (no liqour stores are open (: . I hope their customer support is there for you. You should expect a shipping notice any day.

Cheers!

Aha! That explains quite a bit. They said to expect it to go out tomorrow. I ordered a set of M22s with stands, a VP150, and 4 QS8s with stands. Using a SVS PC12-NSD for the sub.

Dah, my Purolator tracking hasn't updated since the 25th when they left Toronto. I'm hoping they'll show up at work tomorrow but it looks more like maybe Friday. Every time a big white truck drives by my window I'm like a 14 year old kid who just found Dad's dirty magazine stash

I've heard that the audio will be remixed to 7.1, so that, coupled with a lossless track, should make for quite a soundtrack. I'm sure the video aspect will see an improvement as well.

If you are getting really anxious Peapod you can give them a call again and confirm if your order shipped today. I have noticed there can be a delay in when the product is actually shipped and when receive your shipping confirmation in the email.

Cheers!

Can't go wrong with black!

Here are a few pics of the ones I just unboxed :-D. I will say that taking pictures of the glossy surface is a major pain. I tried to capture more of the colour than anything because I had a tough time finding nice pics of HG Cherry, most of them look a bit orange, they are darker in real life. Once I get them in the room and all setup I'll do some gallery pics.

Don't mind the fingerprints!

Very nice indeed! I love that finish. Have you hooked them up yet? When I got my W's I kooked them up to an existing stereo just to hear them - they were propped up on the floor for a couple of days before I was ready to put them in the wall. Thanks for posting the pics!

I hooked them up last night in place of my current Boston bookshelves and ran them 2.1 with the sub. They blend very well with my sub so far and I haven't spent more than two minutes setting them up. I could not play them very loud (in the condo for another three weeks) but they sounded fantastic, I am very pleased. At first listen they seemed pretty forward but I got used to it in minutes and enjoyed them for a couple hours. I just can't wait to hear them at some decent volume, I couldn't even get the drivers visibly moving.

They are built solid, nice and heavy and just reek of quality. The added touch of putting your name on them is super classy as well. I am more than satisified at this point.

What do you mean? Are you talking about on the speakers themselves, or on the boxes they came in?

Also, fork your neighbors... you're moving anyway right? Crank those bad boys and let everyone know who's king!

Both actually, but I first noticed it on the speakers themselves. I'll take a picture tonight, very cool. I guess they only do it on custom finishes seeing as how it says "custom built for..."

I don't need to burn any bridges... But I may be able to get lucky when they're not home, I only have above and below neighbors, none on the sides.

I agree. Very nice touch. That kind of thinking seems to be ingrained at Axiom. They are very customer focused.

I can't remember are yours the real wood Vassalo's or is that a custom vinyl finish?

You get those stickers with the custom vinyl as well. All of mine have it, aside from the QS4s.

It is cool, to bad it's on the back though. It would be super cool if they put a small name plate on the front somewhere.

I wonder if that would effect resale at all?

Not that I ever see myself selling any of the speakers I have mind you. But someone with M22's or something might sell theirs if they decide to upgrade.

I agree. Very nice touch. That kind of thinking seems to be ingrained at Axiom. They are very customer focused.

I can't remember are yours the real wood Vassalo's or is that a custom vinyl finish?

They are the vinyl HG Cherry. The Vassalo's are so nice but it's hard to justify the extra money, if it was another 20% or something I would have gone that way for sure, but 50% more is too rich for me.

I thought of the resale but I think since they are on the back, most people wouldn't care... I know I wouldn't.

Oh I was talking about having a name plate on the front possibly effecting resale. I don't think the tag on the back will be of any concequence at all. In fact I think it actually adds a little bit of class.

I think if I were buying speakers off of someone and there was a custom sticker on the back of them with the guys name on it I would think even higher of them. You don't get that kind of treatment at HHGregs after all.

I bet the resale value would be higher if you could sell to someone with the same name.

The coolest thing about those personalized stickers is what you can see when you cross your eyes while staring at the bar code.

M22s, VP150, 4 QS8s, all black, and with stands. Finally got everything setup late last night, and have been watching movies today. Very happy with the speakers. I had a few issues with the stands, but I think I have worked around them.

They work beautifully with the SVS PC12-NSD I also purchased.

I guess for that price you couldn't have bought an Axiom sub that would match the performance of the SVS. I hope you are enjoying your setup as much as I am enjoying mine!
