It's as horrible as you'd imagine, but I have to admit I laughed a lot. I thought it would be crappier, but I found it pretty entertaining. Never underestimate the power of low expectations, if that's not a contradiction.

Just finished watching Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino

This one is 13 episodes on two disks with a third OVA containing 2 episodes released later.

The review above pretty much sums it up. The visual quality is way off from the first season. In the OVA they even write it into the story by having Rico charge into terrorist stronghold to the dismay of a local operative, only to have her emerge after some brief gunfire to exclaim she’s finished. This actually works because they only resort to it once. In the first season the fight would have been well choreographed with lots of slow motion shots. Music is ok but never evokes the same emotional response as a couple times in the first season.

The story telling changes drastically with about 1/3 or more of the episodes being from the “bad guys” point of view. This certainly gives more depth to the storytelling but I also detracts from the original focus of the relationship between the girls and their handlers. So it’s 50/50 whether this is an improvement.

Overall a decent sequel. The last episodes of the season and the OVA leave it open to another sequel and the Manga continues so . . . .

I watched that a couple of weeks ago and laughed a lot too. Yes, it's horrible and tasteless, but incredibly entertaining! There are some truly uncomfortable moments in that movie, and then you find it strives to go to the next level with uncomfortableness. I have to applaud that. That takes balls.

Or no taste.

But, either way, it's entertaining!

Wasn't it excruciating to watch him interview the parents who were trying to get their kids a part? Owwwww.

Last night I started working on Samurai Champloo. I like the look of the series. There's some funny stuff, but I'm not in love with it yet. I was really tired last night and kept falling asleep, though, so there are several episodes where I only watched half, which means I have to go back and watch them all again.

I feel sorry for those kids. That was quite painful.

Re-watching Inglourious Basterds at a more appropriate volume level. The big gun fight is very impressive.

Bought the Blu ray version of Rush R30 yesterday. Watched it tonight and thought this version at 3 hours was better then the DVD version. The DVD when I first got it was a take it or leave it audio wise. The blu ray was a lot better.

Mel, which songs are included on the Blu ray that they left off of the DVD. I know "La Villa Strangiato" was one of them(one of my fave Rush songs).

I'm enjoying Samurai Champloo more, but there is an annoyance. The audio likes to drop out when it seems like the volume passes a certain high threshold, and then it takes a second to start again. I assume it will take an update to the OPPO to fix it. It's a title-specific problem, I'd say, since I just watched Inglourious Basterds without issue, and it has very extreme shifts in volume. I'll have to try it out on my parents' PS3 to see if it happens on theirs. I don't think it's just a bad copy since it spans both of the discs I've been watching, and I haven't seen any chatter about problems online yet, so I think it must just be a combination of this title and the OPPO.

Watched the live action Blu-ray of “Blood: The Last Vampire" earlier. It’s pretty bad is about the only good thing I can say about it.

Just got done watching the Blu-ray version of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005).” A decent enough movie but it’s lacks the magic of a real enchanting story. I think it could have been done better as a multi-episode short story rather than one movie.

The video quality was good and the special effects of all the creatures look real nice. Even in Blu-ray the didn‘t stand out as fake. Audio was also good but nothing special. I liked the movie but it just didn’t grab me the way I expect something like this should.
