Had never seen the Coen brothers' "Hudsucker Proxy" before. Blech.
Yeah, the Coen brothers are, IMHO, an acquired taste and I'm not sure I've acquired the taste yet. Hudsucker was, IMHO, one of their weaker efforts.
Every time I watch one of their movies, before it starts, I keep reminding myself that, in order to appreciate their surreal views (in order to "get it") a certain amount of brain tweaking is required.
Either here, or on another forum I frequent, someone recently expressed hatred for
Burn After Reading. Since I "got my mind right" before I watched it, I actually enjoyed it (just watched it on TV a second time). Loved the over the top performances of Clooney, McDormand, and especially Pitt.
However, I completely understand someone hating the damned thing or any Coen movie. Attitude adjustment isn't for everone. It's kinda like accepting an alternate reality. Not easy and can be un-fun. I often fail at it.
