Just purchased the pre-order of the new OPPO...excited for this wonderful piece of equipment. I currently have a Samsung Dual HD/Bluray player I purchased 3 years ago. Should be a nice upgrade in quality and speed. http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-93/Anybody else getting this unit. I held off the BDP-83 for this player, however I hear that beastis amazing as well.

How/where did you pre-order it?

How/where did you pre-order it? I signed up with Oppo a while back and they stated that they would let me know when the unit would ship. The link for early pre-order came in today, so I jumped on it. I trust Oppo to fix any issues they may have with this player . Well, I sure hope so, however given that my last player was notorious for issues and not playing discs properly.

Thanks, I just got the pre-order email. Like you, I am also taking the plunge and getting one early.

I got the same E-Mail, however, unlike the last time as an early adopter when I ordered the BDP83 direct from Oppo,at this particular time, I am going to wait and order it from one of the local authorized resellers who indicated they will get a shipment of them a couple of weeks after the "official" introduction.
Around these parts with the dollar at or near par with the US, I can avoid the shipping and brokerage charges by picking it up locally. Recently they have been selling the Oppos at or near the same price in Can. dollars. By waiting I will save myself a considerable amount of coin and by then any bugs it might have will have been worked out. Even with the BDP83, right from the outset I never had any issues with it so I don't worry anyway.

I've got a Panasonic DMP-BD65 and have had a lot of problems with it, which seem to keep getting worse. I'll be happy the day I can toss it into the trash when I get my Oppo. I've had the DMP-BD35 for 2 years and never had one problem with it. I also agrre that if I would have the money, I would probably try an Oppo just to see exactly what is the noise around it all about.

I had the DMP-BD35 before this one and never had a problem with it either (other than I just wore it out). But the DMP-BD65 stops playing at least once during a movie, pauses for a couple of seconds with blank tv screen, then resumes playing. It doesn't matter which firmware I use. I've tried both older and newer. Yesterday for the first time while I was playing a music CD, it started all over again with the HELLO message and I had to press play to get it going. I traded it in once, during the 30 day trade in period at Best Buy, because the first one I bought had the same problem. With the new one, it didn't happen right away, but developed this problem later.

I feel your pain, specially with the BD loading time...
