Today I went to a local production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. It was decent, at least to someone without a refined palate for culture like me, but I have to admit I was fighting sleep through a lot of it. I could also blame my lack of sleep lately. Yes, I went because a girl invited me. No, she's not available.
Last night I got another female friend hooked on Freaks and Geeks. We watched three episodes of it. It had been a while for me, so I think we'll have to watch the rest of them. I also had her watch the first two episodes of Red Dwarf, but I'm not sure it has her attention yet. Not that I blame her. I fell asleep during the first episode the first time my friend had me watch it. There's still hope.
I tried watching the first episode of The Middle, but it seemed like just another sitcom that tries too hard. Maybe I should let it develop a little before I dismiss it, but I'm not inclined to give it the time right now.

I watched 127 Hours this weekend, as well. I thought it was very well done. First time I've seen James Franco in a performance that I liked.

I watched the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary concert on PBS last night. It was really well done, and the sound was great (Dolby Digital since it was a high-def TV broadcast). I'll probably pick up the Blu-Ray edition.

On Saturday.....I watched the Tar Heels beat DOOK like a drum. I wanted to listen to Woody Durham but alas, the synch is so far off between the radio and tv these days that it just does not work.

AHA!!...I knew Dook fans would be in short supply this week. The ones at work were whining about the refs or quoting scores from last year....First time ever that the regular season champs from the ACC did not place a man on the all conference team. DOOK placed 2 - Singular (or whatever his name is) and Nolan. Whatever....just fans the flames a little for the tournament...

Last night we got to see the space station orbiting directly overhead. Seen that before, seen the shuttle. But not one "chasing" the other on the same path. It was tres cool.

Yes, very cool Bob, the kids and I watched them too. They were VERY bright! And we spotted another satellite that seemed to cross their path slightly behind them, much dimmer.

This weekend I watched Cemetery Junction . Best movie I have seen in a long time. Depressing and hilarious at the same time. Very British. Written and directed by Ricky Gervais (and Stephen Merchant).
