Tonight I sit an listen to my system on itunes via apple tv. Generally I would normally listen to the CD's but I am finding the quality of the stream to be pretty good. I don't remember if I ripped the cd's in lossless or not but for the ease of flipping through all my songs this is definately a good way to go.

How many of you use itunes/apple tv to listen to your music?

I sometimes stream itunes to my bedroom processor through airport express.. i completely agree about the convenience factor.

I use iTunes+airport express almost exclusively for music at home. No problems at all, other than occasional drops in signal when I'm using my iPhone as the source and it decides to wig out about the wireless network for a second.

I can't tell any quality difference between direct connection from the laptop or iPod vs wifi.

I need to check out the airport express. I have just bought 4 ATV's for various rooms and 2 remain in the box.

If you're not going to do video, I'd definitely use an AE rather than an ATV. That way you also get wireless network extension, too.

I agree having music streamed is the easiest way to enjoy your full catalog of tunes at will. I haven't made the leap to AppleTV just have one iMac and several iPods in the house and the few times I have tried to use my Mac or an iPod as the source the music sound quality was very good, all my music is ripped at 320k and downloads are at 256. I do most of my music streaming via my NAS / Denon3808 and I have my music ripped to FLAC.

Yeah I have a doc for my Pioneer Elite but the menu system is terrible. So the ATV is a great improvement in that regard. The only issue I found is that my computer must be on for it to work and be on the right network. I have both a vpn and regular network and switch my computer back and forth depending on the application. So far I am impressed with streamed ATV sound quality.

I stream via a Logitech Squeezebox. I think some others here do also.

I still love my old trusty Squeezebox. I love my Axioms for the increased musical enjoyment they brought but honestly, I think the Squeezebox has done more to rekindle my love of music than maybe even the new speakers did.

As Bob mentioned recently in another thread, too many CDs simply gather dust when you actually had to choose and pull one out to play. I love being able to put my entire music collection on Random mode and being pleasantly surprised by what comes up and with over 7000 songs in my library, "random" can not be overstated. I also love being able to choose a genre and randomize that as well. If you do want a particular album, its just a few clicks and swipes away.

Now that my truck has a stereo deck with a 64Gb USB drive in it, I'm enjoying the same freedom as I drive now too. Streaming and music storage is probably my favourite modern invention.

All Cd's and iTunes on Galaxy Note and wifi.
I like random although I wish I hadn't added every Cd. Some things should stay in the past.
