I know this has been discussed before but I was just curious to get some folks take on a couple seating options I'm considering. Number one I just don't want to spend a lot because I'm looking at getting 5 chairs for a single row in an arc configuration. So my budget appears to be <$400 per chair.

My biggest fear is durability followed by comfort. I don't want to be feeling like I need to replace these in less than 5 years. Ideally they would last maybe 10 or more.

Leading candidates right now:

Klaussner Twilight $350/each

Lane Grand Slam $385/each

We have owned some Lane furniture which sits in our family room, we've had it now for almost two years, and it still sits and looks brand new. Lane is well known for it's higher standards, when it comes to quality of materials, and it's build construction. I can't speak about the other company though.

Doubt you are going to get ten years out of the China made stuff, but maybe. I ended up buying a three seat curved set up from IMG - Scandinavian manufacture. Quite comfortable, 100% top grain leather... Quite a bit more than your price point though. Another brand I gave serious consideration to was Passiser. They are manufactured in Canada. The Axis is the chair I was looking at. You might want to give them a gander....

Yeah, bonded leather is not top grain leather.

Spelled Palliser wrong earlier...

But seriously, give them a look. Pretty good build quality and price point. They have a few "quick ship" models that might just fit your needs. The custom order stuff starts to get expensive, but the quick ship stuff is considerably less.

I like the Lane, but only because the chairs are bigger. Having a nice height for your head is great, as is enough length on the leg support so that your feet/ankles aren't hanging off to much...

We just threw out a couch you are welcome to. It was inherited and was the most horridly uncomfortable thing I ever sat on. We got so mad at it's Flinstone style comfort on Sunday that we literally chucked it out the door. It's currently looking rather redneck on my lawn as it awaits getting hauled to the waste site if you want it.

Brian, you would be pleased to hear, however, that our one outdoor romping cat is quiet enjoying it.

Just leave it there then. After awhile, enough trees, grass, weeds, and beer cans will pile up so you'll never notice it was even a couch.

So, you're in tech support and not sales, huh?
